Awesome movie. Downey was a killer Tony Stark. The movie had the perfect balance of action and humor and was very well paced. The FX weren't too fake looking as far as I was concerned. I was also happy they only hinted at the romance thing and didn't go all to hell with it like Spiderman 3

Told my BF the same thing on the way out of the theater. Question, do you think the S.H.I.E.L.D. reference was to Captain America?Chris Slack wrote: I was also happy they only hinted at the romance thing and didn't go all to hell with it like Spiderman 3

Glad to hear some positive reviews from people I trust. I wanted to see it at the drive-in over the weekend, but it's been nothing but rain here.

I guess if you stick around after the credits there's a scene where Sam Jackson plays Nick Fury in a meeting with Stark about The Avengers.Kimberly wrote:Told my BF the same thing on the way out of the theater. Question, do you think the S.H.I.E.L.D. reference was to Captain America?
I have to admit, I was surprised. I'm the most suspicious asshole when it comes to movies like this. Sure, the trailers looked great but red flags go up when a new comic movie is advertised and marketed as heavily as Iron Man was. Comic fans are as bad as Star Wars fans when it comes to that abuse survivor role. Every time a new comic movie comes out, there's a wave of pre-production criticism, the usual fanboy semantics about casting and costumes but they all wind up excited in the end and they all wind up seeing the movie and they all wind up sorely disappointed. But then the next trailer for a new comic adaptation comes down and the cycle repeats itself.
I thought it was pretty good. Seems like studios are starting to figure out how to do a comic movie well. It's just too bad that they exhausted most of the high profile properties before they found a comfortable system to work in. I guess that just means that we're going to get stellar adaptations of Power Man and Iron Fist as well as Powerpack that make The Fantastic Four look massively inferior to Corman's version (well, it is.).
Robert Downey Jr. really was the best guy they could have cast as Stark, the effects were great, the obligatory Stan Lee cameo was funny and the Avengers and War Machine hints were cool, too. So now with this Avengers hint and the flirtations with a JLA movie, we'll see if Hollywood can figure out how to adapt to a whole team of characters to a single two hour movie.

I was on the fence about this one, but after hearing nothing but great things I'm definitely going to see it the first chance I get. Will report back when I do....but it might be a couple of days:)

If only they could find a way to ditch some of these character names from the 60's. Gwyneth Paltrow looks dynamite in this movie and she's a particularly capable character and not just some villain-bait but I can't take a character seriously when she's named Pepper Potts.
I'm just glad that Favreau's character was just a cameo. His fucking name is Happy.

Oh, hell yeah! Going to this movie was my Mother's Day present.Evil Red wrote:I thought it was pretty badass. It took my mind off shit for a few minutes and I always love Stan Lee's apperances.
The end scene after the credits was worth waiting for too.
And agreed on both counts! I also love the fact that he is a "middle-aged" hero. Hehe. I've always thought that Robert Downey, Jr. was a hottie, and he still is!
