Does anyone have a working standalone player they would recommend or any experience with this?
Many of the DVDs that I want such as Red Dwarf, Futurama, and Family Guy are all being released in the UK (Region 2, PAL). Fucking movie industry. I must have them though.
I have been doing research and it seems like I have a few options:
1) Buy a Region 2 DVD player and a PAL TV
2) Buy a Region 2 DVD player and a PAL to NTSC converter
3) Buy a region free DVD player which includes the converter
4) Fuck my entertainment system and add another DVD player and another DVD decoder card to the computer.
Advice? Horror stories? Anyone?
Pal -> Ntsc + Regionfree Dvd ???

I can't make a good recommendation for region-free or region 2 PAL viewing but the US Xbox plays Region 0 PAL DVDs just fine on my NTSC TV.
Post this question in the Horrornews forum and you are almost guaranteed an answer, as that's where the import horror fans hang out.

I own a Malata all region player and it has worked great on absolutely everything. Highly recommend it.
As for RED DWARF, hang on, because the first two seasons are due out on Region 1 this February in the U.S.!!!
