OOP Movies

Post by AchimbaProphet »

WTF. Why is it that in this day and age movies can go out-of-print?

I am trying to track down Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead without having to pay $50+ for a dumb-ass VHS tape. Same with Closet Land.

Grrr...

Everything should be on DVD anyways.

I could only find Name Of The Rose released in freakin Brazil.

I'm not sure how much that goes for. I've got a dub of it somewhere, I think. I don't actually LIKE the movie, though.

Criterion released the movie on DVD, but it was recalled very quickly, like a couple of days later. It's extremely tough to find, and fetches a very pretty penny.

I am trying to track down the movies that affected me the most at different stages of my life. These are the ones that I want to own. I do not really care to collect the newest Disney flick or the blockbuster action thriller hit of the summer what have you. I am not a genre specific collector either. Most movie rental stores have not been open as long as the length of time some of the movies that I am looking for have been out so I can't steal them ;) I just want them all on DVD. Is this really a hard thing to ask? Fuck. I can have Xerox make me a book on request. Why is there no infrastructure in place that will allow someone to have a DVD made on request?

Oh, there's plenty of bootlegs afloat.
