Horror movie recomendations.

Post by Frank the Hammer »

My wife is due next week so I will have two weeks off work with no place to be. Can you tell me some good movies to rent? I am into the Evil Dead series and want some more "underground" dvds I can get at Blockbuster.

I think someone suggested I Spit on Your Grave.

Uhm, undergound and Blockbuster? Somewhat of an oxymoron...

If you just want funny and gory, go with Peter Jackson's older stuff like Bad Taste and Dead Alive.

If you just want sleazy...get out of Blockbuster. The ones near me have fuck all, and rentals cost too much.

You can get "Zombie 3" and "Zombie 4" at Blockbuster. Get "Ted Bundy" and "Dog Soldiers" while you're at it.

Any "Troma" movie. Good cheesy horror.

Teb Bundy was a horrible letdown. Don't waste your money.

Congrats on the new baby, by the way!!!!

Although Blockbuster does completely eat shit, sometimes you'll find stuff you wouldn't think they'd have. I remember the BB near me USED TO have Cailgula (yes, w/harcore scenes intact), Pink Flamingos, I Spit,etc... Someone must have blown the whistle though, cos' they're long gone now.

Pickin's will be slim, but they'd probably have a copy of The Ugly. It may blend in with all the straight to video crap they usually carry, but it's an excellent movie.

The Bundy movie is definitely worth getting.

I'm not sure what else to bother recommending since chances are they won't have it anyway. Maybe you should hit the store with a pad and pen, write down every title they have in the horror section and post it. Then we can set you on course...! :)

Gacy?

Post by Matt »

Speaking of Ted Bundy, I heard there was a Gacy movie out.

What's the scoop on this one?

-Matt

P.S. Ted Bundy was an excellent piece of sleaze. Please rent it, you won't be dissapointed ......

I think it's a movie about John Wayne Gacy. That's what the cover looked like, anyway. Hope that helps.

Yeah, and I hear the fat 'kid' from PEE WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE plays Gacy...

I remember there was some TV movie featuring (who else but) Brian Dennehy as our favourite clown called TO CATCH A KILLER or something to that effect. I don't remember if it was any good though.

Obviously it would have skimped on the fun stuff though so hopefully this new Gacy flick will pick up the slack.

Just got back from Blockbuster, EXCLUSIVE home to "Gacy" as a rental. Gonna kick back a couple shots of vodka and watch it now.

Video West in Everett had it, too. Or maybe I misunderstood.

Some of my favorite gorefests

Post by baconfatman »

What a way to welcome a new life into the world...a horror marathon!!! Good choice!

Here's a few of my favorites:

-Henry

-It's Alive...all three..ending with Island of the Alive. .."bad baby"

-Dead Alive...probably had the biggest gore budget of any B movie ever

-Parents....not really horror, but it scared the hell out me when I saw it on mushrooms the first time.

-Lair of the White Worm

-Rosemary's Baby

-Anything with Pauly Shore.

.ass!

I said "like Evil Dead". Avalible at Blockbuster, yet not something everyone knows.

I'm getting B.B.'s unlimited pass. $25.00 for as many movies as you want for 30 days. (limit two at a time)

30 days X two per day = 60 possable rentals
$25.00 for the pass. $4.00 indivually.
I only have to rent 7 dvds to come out ahead.ass!

A Blockbuster store (and a Hollywood Video) in my area actually carried DESPERATE LIVING a few years back. Not sure if they still do or not. I guess it all depends on the company and their (lack of) knowledge of the title in question. But I did rent TED BUNDY from BB and agree that it was a pretty decent movie. Like Chris, my local Blockbuster also carries ZOMBIE 3 and ZOMBIE 4. I saw ZOMBIE 4: AFTER DEATH as a bootleg several years back and recall not being all too impressed with it. Maybe I need to see it again at some point.

As for I SPIT....., it is definitely a pretty disturbing and brutal movie but I think it has its merits. I actually picked up the Elite Millenium Edition DVD a few months back and you can read my thoughts on it here:
