Anyone remember the first Horrornews?

This is version 4 of the board. I know some of you were around in 97/98 for the first one. Remember the old flat file WWWboard format? Roll call for those who do :)

Yeah, I think it was the Anna Falchi shrine that led me to here (there?) sometime in late '97.

How'd you attract visitors back in the day, Chris? With warm pocket candy or did they all just inadvertantly stumble in like I did?

I'm afraid I think I missed the original board. I only remember 2 changes to the site. I think I first arrived around late 98 or something like that, but I'm terrible with trying to remember things like that....

Was that when it was just a regular threaded board? Was I around back then? When the hell did I get a computer?

Horrorspeak was pretty much the first board I started posting regularly at, strange how the membership seems to gradually change over time...

I remember another type of board - is this the second revision of the board, or the third?

This was the place I first ran into the force that is Bruce H., or the enigma that was Baron Blood. Damn those flame wars of his were entertaining. This was my first board too, so here's to the Filth! BTW, I like the new look!

Damn, Linn! I even remember your first thread...we spoke a bit about Tobe Hooper's EATEN ALIVE (a.k.a. Death Trap) and that's when I figured out you were the only other fellow from GA on the board. Then Dave Keymont moved down here and we've got a nice little collective of GA Forums dwellers.

Yes, I miss those flamewars terribly. Baron Blood and The Gore-met going at it all the time was a treat. Where did all the spit and fire and brimstone go? The SMO guys got it in spades, but it often feels like the HNews crew have grown old and friendly. I still miss Tim Watson terribly and wish that maybe Jasmine would stop on sometime.

I still speak to the Baron quite frequently and he's doing better than ever.

Where in the holy hell is Greg Gory?

The Manimal?

Rich Taylor?

Dave Kosanke?

Kimberly Heissner?

Kevin McIntosh (FOG)?

Valgamon?

The lamest of the lame always jump ship, but the core group will always stick around...thankfully, there's always new blood coming around.

You check out that Indian Cinema near Stone Mountain yet? I hear good things and a poster I saw had it listed as having one of the largest non-IMAX screen in GA!!!!

Hell yeah I remember the first version of this board. I was actually one of the first people here. Chris actually invited me to join after I expressed an interest in his movie pages. That was five years ago (my god has it been that long?!) and the board was new at that point. Of course I remember when it had to become a private forum after the troll attacks from Greg Gory and Kenny the Corpse. Then I recall the PlusScripts version of this board (which was thankfully short-lived). I still liked the previous version a little better, but this one still looks spiffy.

Mr. Austin, you mean to tell me you still talk to Baron. I thought he had vanished. Tell him he needs to stop by more often:) His flame wars with me and Gore-Met were priceless.

Dave Kosanke pops in every once in awhile, but I haven't seen or heard from Kim in several months. I noticed she is no longer moderating the Exploitation forum over at Horrorspeak anymore either. Hope she is ok:(

On the subject of idiots that have come and gone.....whatever happened to Danny Boy and Flesh Cutter?

The Baron's doing really well for himself right now, Chuck. It makes me feel damn good to know he's done right by himself...and yes, his flamewars with almost everybody on this board were a goddamn laugh riot. I almost wish Gore-met were here...we'd have another flamewar and all would be well and funny.

As for Flesh Cutter and Danny Boy, they realized that this wasn't the scene for them and got the fuck outta here quickly. Shawn tore Flesh Cutter's ass to shreds, if I recall correctly.

Salute yourself, Chuck! Be one of the few and the proud!

Ahhh, John P. I wasn't here during his run, but the archive bits were pissers. Flesh Cutter was a bigger dumbass, however.

Speaking of people who have dissappeared, where did Aylmer run off to?

That actually wasn't John P, but our very own Darth Tanner! As for the John P files, what really sucks is that he deleted or altered most of his deliriously deluded posts.

What about Petey Simms? Or my old partner-in-crime Ian Miller, who seems to have disappeared off the planet? I still talk to Kim occasionally, though it's been a few months since out last conversation.

Dave Kosanke helps us out with reviews at Ultra Violent Magazine. The next issue is due this October, and is gonna rock da' fuckin' house. Click on the link below for details on back issues.

Does anyone remember the thread that started off with a few of us singing the praises of Old Crow which then fully developed into a full-blown drink-driving-story competition with dudes boasting they drive around with one eye closed to bat double-vision or some such wackiness, no doubt inspired by the tales of Shawn Smutt? A raging good time was had until some poor fool let it be known that a friend of theirs was killed by a drunk driver or something and didn't appreciate the sentiments, which kinda put everyone in their place. At least I think that's how I remember it.

Things could get pretty off-topic back then.

And then there was Trash Talk...

Anyway, I still maintain that everything was pretty diplomatic until Sunderland came along, bless his heart, and photoshop skills...

What we need is another (flame) war!

Yea, I remember that Drinking and Driving post... Funny shit. It was Al Shevy from World Of Fandom Magazine http://www.worldoffandom.com/
that got his fat-ass so pissed off about it. Some people are sooo goddamn politically correct these days...A few shots of whiskey and drag race in a school zone at 3pm on a week day might do him some good-shawn

Or was that intentional?

I believe most of articles intended for "pages of filth magazine" ended up in Ultra Violent magazine. And some of it is in the latest Deep Red I believe... Bruce should have the details on where all the shit ended up...

Pages of Filth basically went belly-up because I don't know the first thing about computers - which left me in need of someone else to work on the layout. Unfortunately, everyone who vounteered for the job later backed out. The submitted pieces have either been lost forever, abandoned for being too out-of-date, or have been placed into 'zines like UV and DR (Oct's issue of UV actually features updated versions of 3 pieces which were originally gleaned for PoF). If PoF ever made it out, I actually woulda just been in competition with the 'zines I now help put together. I personally like it better this way (although PoF woulda really rocked the fuckin' house).

By the way Shawn, I may have a one-shot publishing idea for you sometime in the Winter if you're interested. More on it later, but it should be pretty cool.
