I'm getting the R2. It's worth it, and I don't trust that it'll get a decent dvd release over here.

Well it's not getting a cinema release in Australia until September and I've got a front projection setup at home, so purchasing the R2 DVD was no-brainer for me. Great movie too, my favourite so far this year. I haven't touched the extras on the disc yet, but it does look to be a good package. Whichever way you choose to see it, make sure you're getting the full 5.1 sound experience with volume cranked (and fresh underpants handy), those infected fuckers scream like banshees....

I don't know what sort of set up the R2 disc has but chances are it'll have more on it than the R1 when that finally comes out.

I saw this a while back and I liked it quite a bit. It has quite a bit in common with Day of the Dead but I was cool with that since I like Day of the Dead a lot too. The infected people in this movie are incredibly frightening creatures. I really wish there was more of them in it.

Ok, what's up with this? Anybody know? It was supposed to hit theatres tonight but, as usual, my little hillbilly, red-neck, inbred town of mayberrians' cinema isn't showing it. Well, I guess I could call, but I bet they don't. Fuck em

I don't think it's playing anywhere around here, either. Then again, I've had an SVCD of it for a couple of months.

We've discussed it in some detail here in older threads. It's a pretty good movie.

Looking very foward to seeing this. I loved everything so far by Danny Boyle... yes even The Beach! :P

I wasn't too bummed I missed the screening since it opens when is it... next week or is it this week? Either way it's opening like SOON...

Did anyone ever find out or read... etc what happened at the screenings nationwide the other night when people wore *red* to the show after being taunted or dared to wear red in the ads for the advanced screening? Haven't heard about what that was all about or what happened.

Anyone?

Could care less if this one ends up getting shitty reviews I'm still so there and can't wait to see it!

I've been trying to avoid reviews of it... why I don't know... because even if it gets or has gotten so far shit reviews I'm still really looking foward to seeing it. And I'm sorry as much as MOST people hated The Beach but loved Trainspotting and Shallow Grave... I really liked The Beach and the kinetic feel of the film and his direction. I can't wait to see his take on zombies :)

Nice not to be the first (or only) one to see something like this... nevertheless, I avoided all the articles and threads until I saw this with my own eyes.

As a result, I have almost nothing to add, but I thoroughly enjoyed 28 DAYS LATER. Sure, I recognized specific elements of DAWN and DAY OF THE DEAD, but I also thought that they were very appropriately used and that Danny Boyle made the film very much his own. The Romero films were hanging around in my subconscious, but not once did I think "rip-off."

Also glad to hear it made a decent 9-million plus 4th place opening against HULK, CHARLIE'S ANGELS, what have you--like it or not, I felt it was going to sink like a stone this summer. (FROM JUSTIN TO KELLY... didn't even crack the top ten... 1.9 million... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!)

By the way, I'm quite surprised at how venomous some of the hatred against this film (and against HULK) has been in other forums--we seem to stand fairly well united here when it comes to these two, no?

I guess we're just glass-half-full kinda people in here, Remo. Whatever your beef, 28 DAYS LATER has those moments that horror fans live for and that no amount of chin scratching or hand wringing can contest.

i think out of all the zombie movies i've seen this movie had the least amount of zombies out of them all. yes the production quality of the zombies was very high but you'd think you'd see more the 30 of them in the whole move if A WHOLE FUCKIN ISLAND WAS INFECTED!!!! no zombie movie is complete with out a zombie swarm so this one isn't for me. there was a sudo pack of them in that tunnel but those were super pussy zombies. the typical brainless zombies that i love would of kept running after that car until they tripped over something but noooo, the pussy zombies run for about 50 feet and then stop and huff and puff because they're winded. fuckin bullshit. the more and more i think about this movie the quicker it goes from being ok to a total piece of shit.

Um, it wasn't a zombie movie and never claimed to be...

Post by Chris Slack »

Thaw, one thing you need to remember is that it is NOT a zombie movie so it's not right to expect anything you may have seen in the zombie movies you are familiar with. The LIVING people are infected with a virus and dying, hence why there may not have been the huge swarms of them you were expecting (28 days since the plague started and many may have died of starvation or the virus itself) and also why they got tired and gave up pursuit.

fair enough. i'm sure the director didn't want it to be considered a zombie movie but the media made it out that way. following a logical plot line then i think 14 days later would of been a much better movie :D

Fucking media... the commercials for the movie with the alleged audience reactions made me sick, surely FOX could have hired better "actors" for those :)

what? These ones?

"Oh my gawd, dood! I was totally on the edge of my freakin' seat, dood!"

Followed by a night vision cam shot of mallrat teens leaping out of their seats?

I don't pay much attention to that crap. As far as I'm concerned those audience shots are the members of horrormovies.com flipping out.

Hehehe... fucking hate those commercials.... however they did get alot of people to see it, no?

I enjoyed the film. I can't see how they would refer to it as a *zombie* film...

While I enjoyed the story and the fact that it actually developed some of the characters... I still left the theater wanting more scenes with the infected.

I can't put my finger on exactly why, but I found myself really disappointed in this. Maybe because LT invoked the words "day of the dead" and got my expectations all high. (bastard!) I'd still recommend everyone go see it though. I'm just glad I went to see it in the theatre rather than spend the money on the DVD.

Sorry, dude. I've been starving for a new zombie flick (still haven't seen Undead) and jumped the gun a bit.

You will notice that I didn't compare the two movies qualitywise... or did I? All I know is that I watched it again with my brother the other night and it wasn't quite as thrilling as the first time I saw it. They never are, though, are they?

My brother was a little disappointed, too, but he always buys into the hype and was expecting thrills and chills like the ads said there'd be.

Nah, I knew you didn't mean it was as good. Unlike your brother though, I usually DON'T believe the hype so when I hear good things from a reliable source, I get excited.

Speaking of "Day" though, I've been mentoring my 13 year nephew on real horror ( ie not the "Scream" stuff he's been watching while I was in Atlanta, unable to be the positive influence I can be. :) ) so I've had him watch TCM, Night, Dawn and tonight Day. I'm not sure where to go next. I'm thinking "The Thing", maybe "Demons" or something.

Carpenter is the next logical step, man. You gotta ease him into Italy. Start slow with Suspiria then progress into Bava. When you're going full steam, it's time for Fulci. And when you think he can handle it, it's time for Japan.
