I love Peter Jackson

Post by Irrylath »

Ya know, I saw The Lord of the Rings in the theater....loved it! Great movie! Woo-hoo!!
and I bought the 4 1/2 hour DVD for myself for x-mas :D, but I never watched the damn thing.....until today.
I....I...uh...I'm at a loss of words at how beautiful it is! breathtaking...
I can't BELIEVE they cut those scenes out! It moves like poetry with those scenes!
*sigh*

(sorry....I just wanted to share this moment of bliss....:) )

I'm sure he loves you, too.

Yeah, the extra character and exposition scenes are really something ...but what doesn't get enough mention is that the final battle with the Uruk-hai has been slightly retooled - to near perfection.

I remember thinking each time I saw the theatrical version that that showdown really didn't reach its potential and was a pretty lacklustre climax, leaving much to be desired. But fuck me if they didn't do some subtle tweaking to that for the Extended Edition - its probably my favourite part of the movie now, moreso than the rumble with the cave troll.

Its a much more frantic, desperate seige full of wonderful hacking, slashing, skewering and bludgeoning (in a PG-13 kinda way) that builds - and fades - beautifully. I never tire of it. The editing is phenomenal.

Anyway, I just thought I'd let you lucky fuckers know where its at.

hey-I can't remember....did they do that "looking in the mirror" bit in the theatrical version?
and I agree....that fight scene with Aragorn was much more intimate when it wasn't all chopped up....oh...and when Boromir was fighting those guys off...he keeps getting shot and just keeps getting up and fighting off those guys to protect Pippin and Merry.....where's a tissue......I'm starting to gush!

I've never been a big fan of his, but I still look forward to the live action Neon Genesis Evangelion adaption.

You NEED to watch some of his older flicks, "Bad Taste", "Meet the Feebles", "Dead Alive", "Heavenly Creatures" and even "The Frighteners". I pray he makes another horror movie someday...

THE FRIGHTENERS takes a little while to warm up but once it does, its insanely entertaining. Jeffrey Combs steals the show.

BAD TASTE will always be my fave, though.

I dunno if Jackson will return to his splatstick comedy roots anytime soon but I'm sure he'll always be making monster movies, in whatever capacity.

There's been rumor he may do Bad Taste 2 next. The problem, as he expressed it, is that he'd have to top Dead Alive/Braindead in terms of gore...

Is that a rumor or wishful thinking? It's funny, the more you mention Bad Taste, the more I come to resent the film. :)

I don't know how substaniated it is, but I DID read that in an interview with him. I think it was at the outset of the LORT trilogy that he was interviewed, but the bit about outdoing Dead Alive was earlier, I think.

You CAN'T hate Bad Taste! Philistine!
