So has anybody seen it yet? It looks really good, and I hope it's not too cheesy. :skull:

Ha! That I could get into. It screams "most retarded idea ever" but I can already hear the quotable one liners. Unfortunately, I don't see Campbell or Raimi ever agreeing to something like that.

>PS: so why are there no bootlegs of this floating around?

I should think the answer would be obvious. Have you seen the special trailers running before movies these days? The ones where the "little guys" in the business (as opposed to megabuck producers, etc.) explain from the heart how film piracy hurts them?
And the TV spots? And the newspaper ads?

The message is clearly getting across to the vast majority of moviegoers--and we have reached a new dawn, where all who would do such things have seen the error of their ways.

Movies. They're worth it.

My local Chinatown has so many boots of current films, you'll gag. X-men 2 anyone? Hit most of the Asian countries(and Russia) with trade sanctions and you might get some results. But I highly doubt it. Just more semantics, from they're direction. That's where most of the bootleg DVD-Rs are coming from. Whether the politically correct cry racism for stating it or not. They can spend however much on ads they want, a true collector, who really likes the film will always buy the official version. Domestic or foreign. Whichever is best. Or the boot,in the meantime and then dump it when it's officially released.

As for Freddy vs Jason, I have my ticket. Crapfest or not.

I realize that reviews usually don't mean shit, but the general consensus is that all the waiting, fantasizing, debating and drooling are in vain and that it's a total waste of your movie dollar.

Hairy Knowles jizzed all over it in his usual "this movie rules because my website is covered in advertising for it" but creature-corner.com, a website I tend to put a little more stock in, shit all over it. There are several inferences that it's even worse than Jason Takes Manhattan. Apparently there's too much of the cannon fodder teenage cast and the remarkably awful dialog and not enough of the two main attractions.

Regardless of the negative press, I'll still wind up seeing it and I'll be sure to post my opinions as always... I'm just not expecting much.

A buddy of mine berated me for putting the movie off like it was nothing.

Was this supposed to be a comedy? The audience I saw it with basically tried to laugh it off the screen--and I don't blame them.

Hey, hope springs eternal. Freddy scared me ONCE. Jason never scared me--but there WERE a few moments in his adventures that I enjoyed here and there.

And then there's Ronny Yu... hell, I thought BRIDE OF CHUCKY was the best of the series, and if ANYONE could make something good out of this...

When will I learn?

This thing gives bad writing a bad name. Oh, we're not in it for the writing? Hey--you've got to get the premise across SOMEHOW or other, don't you? It's bad enough that Freddy basically gives us a monologue to set things up--but what's even more ludicrous is that the rest of the cast can effortlessly figure it all out! "Maybe he's not strong enough yet--maybe that's why he got Jason to do it for him... only now Jason's gone too far!"

Good Lord, this one almost makes me want to give WRONG TURN another chance. Sorry, but a zippy, gory final fifteen minutes do not anything NEAR a good film make.

Sheesh.

Well, more power to you, Irrylath. I know it's meant for fun, and sometimes I wonder if I'm still capable of having it.

Then again, I was the guy who kinda liked HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION, so there you go. Let's face it, nobody who's EVER enjoyed Freddy OR Jason is going to pass this one up, and the more you continued to like them over the years, the more fun you'll have with this one (just like I continue to be a Godzilla fan even after more than twenty entries). I never had that continuing loyalty for Mr. K or Mr. V.

Oh, and on a side note, yeah, the fate of the world doesn't depend on who's behind the hockey mask... but I DID notice the difference...

I saw it this weekend and actually had a good time with it (but then I also loved JASON X so you probably know where I'm coming from). Since it's really hard to take a premise such as this seriously, I had a pretty good idea what I was getting into. Let's face it.......these movies stopped being scary a long time ago. But I have to agree with Remo that the script could have been better developed. The decision to go with a new actor as Jason was a huge mistake on the part of the producers as he doesn't have the presence that Kane Hodder had. But there were plenty of laughs and overall stupidity to make it worthwhile (my favorite gag being the "stoner" Jay clone). I was also amazed at how much the MPAA let stay into this film. This is probably the goriest of all the movies in either franchise. There is also some welcome nudity to remind us of the good old days:) Between this movie and FINAL DESTINATION 2 I would have to say that the MPAA has been really lenient this year. FREDDY VS JASON isn't a classic by any stretch but fans are sure to love it (which is evident given the film's weekend box-office take of $36 million and counting).

Some of the trailers before the movie were also pretty cool. The TEXAS CHAINSAW remake is starting to look more promising as is HOUSE OF THE DEAD (which will be upon us before long). UNDERWORLD also looks like it will be interesting.

Caught this at the drivein over the weekend and while I agree it wasn't very good, I can't say it didn't meet my expectations. I mean, had either one of these franchises set a precedent for quality?!? I went to see Jason and Freddy fight. They did. Good enough for me......

Man, it was allright, but it was pretty boring in the middle and some of the effects sucked BAD.(Like that penis monster thing that smoked pot with the one guy, was that supposed to be the thing from Jason Goes To Hell??) At least there was gore, and nudity.

The best thing about the movie was the matress crunching that guy, and I swear I've seen that in a different movie already(maybe another Friday the 13th?) Only other really great things were the flashback of Jason as a kid and the raver choppings.

That opening monologue thing sucked, and Final Destination 2 is still the best movie thats come out this year.
Let's ask him, what's the deal?

I think O.J. got squished by a matress in one of the Naked Gun movies.

Johnny Depp gets sucked into a bed in the first Nightmare, and one guy drowns in his waterbed in the 4th...I don't remember any other bed deaths off hand.

I liked this a lot more than I thought I was going to. I went expecting it to totally suck, but it didn't. Well, not entirely.

There was too much of the kids running around trying to figure out what to do and not enough Freddy vs. Jason. Their fight at the end was great.

Was I the only one who recognized Scott Farcas from A Christmas Story as the suicided brother in the bath tub? He had yellow eyes! So help me, god, yellow eyes!

Yes, I think you were the only one... but you're right, of course. Zack Ward... whaddya know. Here's another strange thing--I certainly didn't know that his name was actually supposed to be "Scut" instead of "Scott" in that movie?!

MY SUMMER STORY... now THERE'S an underrated sequel! You gotta miss Darren McGavin, but give Charles Grodin a chance, okay? "Son of a BITCH!!!" Well, it's not what he says, it's the way he says it...

Entertainment Tonight reported the movie made $40 million on opening weekend. That's not chump change.

I just may have to go see it.

Expect another sequel or another X vs. X movie at least. FvJ cost $35m to make and broke even on the opening weekend. Not bad for a couple of antique horror baddies.

titties!

Post by Valgamon »

Just saw it with my girl on $5 night at the local shithole.

Was that really Katharine "Ginger" Isabelle naked in the shower, or was it a body double? If that's really her, DAMN, she's got better tits than I would've thought! And while looking up her name, I found that two other Ginger Snaps films have already been made! A sequel, and a prequel.
