I got the R2 disc when it was first released.. What a fucked up flick. Really, really twisted. Them Asians need some serious help... Man was this sick and this is coming from the guy who liked AFTERMATH.
That being sad, highly reccomended. Would suggest a healthy dose of toxins to enhance viewing pleasure.

I held off on watching this one until I could find an uncut copy. I had a hong kong vcd of it for a while, but their edit butchered the hell out of most of the violence, and let's face it, that's what this movie is all about. I don't think I could have stomached much of Ichi's whining and crying unless I could see some serious viscera. Thankfully a fansub of the R2 went around usenet and I was able to see it. I'm holding out for the R1 DVD to actually buy it, though.

Could not agree more my friend but what would it be if not to lend us an extention towards a sequel?

The Media Blasters release looks great, got it tonight and watched it. Since my girlfriends eyes were bugging her we watched the dubbed version, pretty strange hearing everyone with British accents!

You know, there is a sequel of sorts. Actually, I think it's a prequel and it's not by Miike. One of the guys in my office had it, I think it was just called Ichi 1. I never heard if it was any good or not.Originally posted by stypees back

Latte: I downloaded it from the Bit Torrent-network.
Haven't seen it yet (only checked some bits here and there).
Nao Omori is playing Ichi again, and i think this one has more in common with the Koroshiya 1-anime (i've only seen ep. 0) than Miikes movie.
A friend has seen Ichi 1 and told me it was good.
I am also a proud owner of this DVD: http://shop.ichithekiller.com/

So I finally saw this today, and I just want to make sure about the end -
SPOILERS
Was everything just in the Jiiji guy's head the whole time?? That's what I got from it, that he had been picked on in school and made up all this stuff in his head where he took on Yakuza and all this stuff.... I really don't know about the end leaving anything open for a sequel..
The best part of this movie was the part where that dude takes off his shirt and has all those MUSCLES! That was nuts! I screamed.... Cool movie.

I think everyone should get together and smoke a nice big fattie whilst watching this movie. Perhaps it has some socialogical meaning

Well see, thats what I mean - Jiiji (is that the psychologist?? The guy with the muscles...) Hypnotized Ichi and made him think he had done all that stuff with the rape and all that, but at the end everything just starts going totally crazy, Jiiji takes off his shirt and has big muscles and totally destroys that guy like he didn't need Ichi at all, and then after everything happens on the roof, there's a scene where he seems to be remembering the little kid kicking him, which I thought meant that he had been Ichi the whole time.... and then it showed all the flashbacks and stuff, and then he was hanging above that group of students that looked like they were on a fieldtrip....
I am lost. Will have to watch it again...

Did anyone ever watch the prequel to this? I saw it on the shelf the other day but thought it might be crap.

I saw the animated prequel but have yet to see the live action one. I think I have it on my NetFlix queue.

Exellent
Ichi the killer looks like a cool movie, I've wanted to watch it for so long but I haven't gotten a chance. Some more good movies are Dead or Alive, Dead or Alive 2 and Full Metal Yakuza. Those are some more gorey, bloody, fucked up Japanese movies. It's hard to keep up with the plot in some of these movies cause it seems like the director thought the movie was getting boring and threw in a little something here and there. Over all they are surely worth a rent. I've bought all the ones i've seen.
Ghoul, Impaled, F.K.U., S.O.D., Anthrax,Impetigo, Blood Freak, Repulsion, Slayer, The Misfits, The Dead Kennedys, Macabre, Iron Maiden, GG Allin, BirdFlesh, Engorged, General Surgery, Gruesome Stuff Relish, Haemorrhage, Carcass, Regurgitate, Fuck...I'm Dead, Butcher ABC, Mortician, Fondle Corpse, Splatterhouse, The Ramones, Metallica, Sinergy, Cliteater, Cannibal Corpse, Rabid, Napalm Death, Gwar, Deathside, Funerot, Sodom, Death, The Storyteller, Amebix, Gism, Nocturnal Rites, Sabbat

You know, I loved Ichi and most of Takeshi Miike's stuff.. but sometimes it's too much for me.. give me gore and violence a plenty but I cannot handle the rape scenes... maybe that's just a cultural thing.
