Versus

Post by Mike B »

I just saw Versus last night...and all I can say is 'wow!'

Has anyone else seen this? What did everyone think of it? I was really blown away by this movie--I liked it a lot more than Wild Zero (which I liked, but reminded me a lot of Repo Man for some reason).

Great movie...

Hey, I just saw this last night too. Thought it was great. Lots and lots of violence but I don't think it's the most violent film ever as it's being hyped up to be. The gore isn't as plentiful as I heard either, and the gore scenes are usually brief. Can't complain about much more though, the movie was fast-paced for the most part and didn't bore me at 2 hours long when most 90 minute movies do. Even had a few funny bits. Well, if you wanna see a Matrix or Woo like action film with Peter Jackson or Andreas Schnaas like gore scenes(this is much better made than any Schnaas film though), then you should check this out.

Yeah, I don't think it's the most violent movie ever, either--definitely cool, though.

I thought the gore was pretty decent and the pacing solid. It's impressive that the movie could run for two hours and manage not to drag too badly at any point.

There's a German video site that is selling this R0 DVD right now www.adrenafilm.de (German language site with a remarkable selection! They even carry the Mamorou Oshii Avalon DVD, a must see for the visuals alone!) that is selling the Versus DVD. They keep pushing the availability back, but it should be in stock soon. I'll be ordering it and the Avalon disc.

Versus kicks major ass! I think it blows away Junk and Wild Zero. You can never get enough Zombies, this one is like a mix of Shogun Assassin, Story of Ricky, everything John Woo has made, and Zombie with some cool Raimi inspired camera work tossed in...I fould a trailer for it here: http://www.kss-movie.com/versus/home.html
I have a real clean bootleg with English subs, I'll have a DVD for it this week. You can order the DVD from this dude: video@chainsaw.demon.nl his name is Han, drop him an email if you are interested. I think he'll be shipping the DVD on Tuesday or Wed...

Well, its not really a ZOMBIE film in the classic sense. But zombies are one of the subplots...At any rate, this movie ROCKS. -shawn

Bwlow is a link to an interview with the director and producer (who speak english remarkably well) for a German TV show. He's pretty frank ("I don't like police, so I kill them in my movies a lot") and kinda funny in places.

I got in touch with him and he told me that it wasn't available yet but he'll let me know when it is. I'm not sure what he'll be selling it for but Adrenafilm has it for something like $22USD, real cheap... but I'm hearing about problems with the DVD from people over at the Kung Fu Cult Cinema forums.

I will have this disc, oh yes, I will.

Latte,

Let me know when you get one--if you don't have any problems, I'll definitely grab one for that price.
