Ocean's 11

Post by Latte Thunder »

Caught this pic yesterday. Some thoughts.

I really dig heist movies. It seems like it's been the longest time since a really good one has been made (with the exception of Snatch) and even though this one is a little far fetched, it's still a lot of fun. I really like the Soderberg style. He could make a static shot of a bowl of fruit interesting. Since I saw Three Kings I've been keen to Clooney and Fight Club really helped me get past Pitt's "aesthetics". The two of them really play well together. I've never seen the original 11 so I don't know how the chemistry is between the two characters, but it's pretty sharp here. A lot of quick, witty dialog is happening throughout the movie. The rest of the cast is pretty sharp as well. Andy Garcia plays the super efficient Terry Benedict, the guy who's casinos are to be robbed. He's pretty cold, all business. A great part. Makes it hard for me to believe anyone, much less Julia Roberts' character would be attracted to him. Roberts is wasted. She's a background character, the love interest, and spends most of her screen time scowling at Clooney. Don Cheadle would have been good too had he not had the foolish cockney brit act going on. And the little chinese acrobat is amazing. I'll leave it at that.

Decent enough picture to blow some money on, I thought.

here here

I'd say I was definitely satisfied coming out of the theater after it was over.
Let's ask him, what's the deal?
