Yes, The Burning Moon is from Germany's own Olaf Ittenbach. I like Olaf's work, and put his earlier stuff somewhere between Buttgereit and Schnass in terms of quality. As far as I know, The Burning Moon was never released as part of the Traces of Death series. Also check out Legion of the Dead. In the US it's cut, but maybe you poms got lucky for once and scored the real deal.

The new Skitzo DVD features prominent clips from the film.

I got my copy of Men Behind The Sun off of diabolikdvd.com, cheap too. $15. Yeah, I have plenty of German splatter films in my collection. Olaf generally makes the best. Andres generally aims more for the porno aspect.

Still haven't gotten around to seeing Ichi, but it is playing a midnight show at the end of the month. Running time is listed as 129 minutes. That's the uncut time right? If so, I'll probably make the trip.

Out of the hundreds of gory horror films I own
Olaf Ittenbach's {PREMUTOS} is the goriest of them all.

BRAINDEAD which is up there wit PREMUTOS,
FLOWER OF FLESH AND BLOOD

and shit like that.
Ittenbachs older films are nice too.
If anybody knows of a film containing more GORE
PLEASE let me know I would absolutely love to check it out.

Oh yea, I finally watched this about a week ago. I liked it well enough but really it was not one of my favorite Miike films. The only one I've seen that I liked less in fact was Fudoh. This one sort of reminded me of a combo of a Yakuza film, mixed with Faust and Rapeman. Not sure why so much. I remember being confused by the ending, but honestly I can't even remember what the ending was now. I'm glad I saw it, but I'm equallin glad I didn't run out and buy it or haul my ass in town and stay out till 3am to see it.

"The Happiness of the Katakuris" was a movie I felt I pretty much suffered through. Not enough gore for me. The silliness was kinda fun but it went on way too long. I enjoyed "Ichi the Killer" way more because obviously there was way less silliness and more disturbing scenes. But there was still too much silliness in this movie for me to fully feel disturbed.

After I finally got my hands on the uncut version, I felt pretty much the same way about Ichi. It's violence is some of the most severe I've ever seen, but aside from that, it's a pretty empty experience. I'd read that when Miike set out to shoot Ichi, he'd intended to make a movie so violent that it would be damaging, psychologically, to the viewer. So I guess from the start, it was just an exercise in how much cruelty could be packed on screen. However, I'm way past that point in my horror viewing lifetime to just watch a movie for the violence. I want some meat, a story, and Ichi doesn't deliver. It's just another superhype Asian movie.

I liked Fudoh, though. It's unflinchingly immoral and I can respect that. If I had to pick a Miike movie that just didn't do it for me, it would either be Audition or Dead or Alive. If DOA didn't have that slam-bang intro and the best ending I've ever seen in a movie, I'd be as bored with as I've ever been with a movie.

I finally saw the uncut version of Ichi last week, I got the 3 disc set with english dubbing and the anime version (the dubbing sucks btw, watch with subtitles). Wasn't as distrubing as I thought it would be but the gory sets had a good atmosphere. I noticed some of the gore was CGI, not bad.

This is the only Miike film I've seen. Maybe I'll check out Full Metal Yakuza. I like his stylized camera shots and music. Story didn't interest me much though. And I kinda felt let down by the ending which I thought would be a totally insanse fight.
If anybody knows of a film containing more GORE

I've read some reviews about a movie called Darkness directed by Lief Jonkers, a lot of people say it beats Braindead
