Go here, I ordered mine, should have it in a few days. A friend got his yesterday, watched it last night. FUCK! It is alot fucking gorier, more zombies, more gore, many many more head shots, much more character development, extra scenes. Awesome shit indeed. One of my favorite zombie movies now!

Awesome, fuck that waiting until October shit. How are all the extras? I assume everything is in English right? I'll have to pick that up, and maybe add Shaun of the Dead too. (Unless someone knows a better version out/coming out?)

Got mine yesterday and have watched everything but the commentary. I didn't think there was all that much more violence in the unrated version, but there was certainly more things said that is likely to offend the more PC crowd in this country. I do like how some scenes have been restored within the movie but others are still left out. The ones that are left out are left out for good reason.
The extras are a bit weird. There is plenty of your standard making of stuff which is all cool, but there is also a couple of short films that take place within the DOTD "universe" I guess you'd say. However, as entertaining as they can be, they are mostly played for comedy it seems. I found myself disappointed in the tone of these parts, but must admit I found myself laughing a few times as well, particularly at one specific line spoken by Tom Savini on a newscast. Also, it seemed at one point the Andy character took a playful shot at 28 Days Later. (paraphrasing here- "I'm running low of food, but that's okay, you can go, like, 28 days without eating". Perhaps referencing Jim from 28 Days Later, lying unfed, in the hospital in that movie. Or am I reading too much into that?)
Still, if you can play all regions, this is a great disc to get.

the making of extras were awesome, but the news feed one and the Andy bit were just kind of hokey. Andy, I thought, was a cool character because of the relationship the mall survivors had with him, but as a speaking role, he just sort of hams it up in front of the camera. The acting during the news report one was also too bad for me to tolerate.

I had a hard time remembering what happened in the theatrical cut, but Dave's right, there's really not a whole lot more violence happening in this version than there was in the theatrical version. There was a scene when they raided Andy's gun shop right before they went in when Kenneth blasted a zombie in the face, leaving not much more than half his head and an eyeball.
Having this on DVD is a great thing, though. The headshots in this movie really don't get enough love. Being able to step through headshots frame by frame really gives you a good look at how awesome the blast effects were in this movie.
