Shaun of the Dead--don't be fooled by the "R"
I can't wait to see Shaun of the dead. Sounds like a damn good movie!
On a side note (get out your rotten tomatos) I actually liked House of the Dead a bit. A lot of people died and it had some pretty good gore! Obviously not as good as Zombie, Buried Alive, The Beyond, etc.. but, for what it was, it served it's purpose.....and Clint Howard is great!

If i was Romero i would be totally offended. I think its gonna turn out like another scray movie and just spoff all the good movies and just drive most good movies into the ground..........The re-make of Dawn of the dead was a big enough joke why not just phase it out. Thats my view on this whole situation. also i am predicting there will be a whole new group of zombie movie fans gone to shit over these gay movies like 28 days later. They will never learn of the truely good movies. Like Zombie one of the greatest movies ever made on the topis of well zombies. Will they ever see this master piece or just suck?
28 Days gay? MUHAHA!
Pull your head out of Romeros ass and smell some fresh air.

I don't usually disagree with you Shawn but this time I have to as I thought the flick was fucking brilliant. I've seen it at least 7 times and my appreciation has not diminished in the least.

Dude, I have now watched it 3 times. I have a dvd, watched it before the release, and I was like "whats the big deal?" So I figured I needed to see it on the big screen so I went this past weekend. Still hated it. And just to make sure I wasn't fucking crazy I tried to watch it again last night and I only got about half way through before tearing out my own eyes... I must be fucking crazy because EVERYONE on the face of the planet likes this movie. Oh well... Braindead blows it away...

I agree that Braindead is better. Since you don't like the movie you should give me a deal on taking the DVD off your hands I already have a killer bootleg but would like to replace it with the proper R2!

I actually think Shaun is better than Braindead (ok, I admit I have only seen the DeadAlive version, but I doubt it would make a difference to me). I just like the characters in Shaun and I think the jokes are much better written, whereas the DeadAlive jokes are mostly just gags. I also like the pacing of Shaun better. It starts slowly but keeps gaining steam right up to the end, whereas I think DeadAlive starts well, gets a bit redundant in the middle and then has the big finale. Just a matter of taste I suppose.

Shawn--while I disagreed with you on such contested choices as EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING and OPEN WATER, I could fully understand why you hated those. But I'm truly surprised and sorry that you didn't enjoy SHAUN OF THE DEAD--I honestly thought that movie had it all! But nobody could accuse you of jumping the gun and not giving it a chance--so, as always, your opinion is as good as mine, any day of the week.

Thanks Remo, the problem is comedy and horror just don't mix well for me. Unless its really dark humor. On some occasions I can get into it. Braindead and Return Of The Living Dead come to mind (I'm sure there are plenty of others) but usually it turns me off.
Now when a horror film is unintentionally funny, thats a different story, that kind of shit I like. I'm nuts.
I'm interested to hear what you think of SAW when it hits theaters in Oct... I've seen it twice now and for me its the best horror film of '04'...

Oh yes Latte. It is a Giallo, 100%, and better than anything Argento has shit out in many many years. Its like a combination of Seven and a Giallo. And the ending will knock your dick in the dirt. Its now my favorite ending for a horror film. Fucking loved it.Latte Thunder wrote:I'm pretty excited for Saw, also. The trailer looked tits. I've heard word that it's in the vein of a giallo. Any truth to that?
