It's too bad I blinked and missed the theatrical release of this earlier in the year (or was it last year?) because I rented it the other day and really liked it. Filmed in black and white, it's a loving homage to B movies of the 50s. The "Lost Skeleton" (which is located about 2 feet inside a cave, that is found by the first person to actually look for it) needs "Atmosphereum" to come back to life. However, some aliens who have crash landed (allowing the escape of their pet mutant in the process) also need the "Atmosphereum" to power their return journey home. Stuck in the middle is Prof. Armstrong, our hero who "does science". With a plot that makes no sense at all, effects that are intentionally laughable and dialogue for the ages ( "You don't believe those old stories do you?"...."Haha! I'm a scientist, I don't believe anything".), you've got a really fun movie. The dvd is really cool too, featuring a making of featurette, a trailer, a cartoon, 2 commentary tracks, an audience Q$A and a section of fake merchandising that would have come out had the movie been made in the 50's-60's.
Oh and the movie was filmed in the miracle of Skeletorama!!

I loved this film.. You nailed it on the head by saying it painted a perfect homage to B films. This is one of those flicks that makes you kick your own ass for not coming up with the idea. It was so cleverly done that if it would not have been shot on video it could have almost passed as a classic (and quite possibly "lost") Arkoff/Corman film.
This one's a keeper if only they'd drop the price down just a tad... I even had my father watch it and he doesn't laugh at any thing.
and dam, that chick in the cat outfit was hot! What was her name again? "Glendora"? Can't believe she's married to the director.
edit: she was married to the director who also played the "scientist" because he was a "scientist" and that's why he loves "science"

You're thinking of "Animala", though I love how she had to have TWO names (I think the other was Pam) for some stupid, unknown reason.
And yeah, when I heard the director was married to someone in the cast, I assumed it was probably the alien chick. Frankly, I'd take the redhead, but hey...

While the idea of this movie I thought was cute and clever... I was actually disappointed in it. Some of the things they nailed dead on... but most of it just got on my nerves... such as them trying to be intentionally funny... and the skeleton's talking. It didn't just work for me. The part I enjoyed the most about it was their dialogue but even then that got tiresome...
I dunno, I'd rather just watch one of the classics...
