Depp as Wonka

Post by AchimbaProphet »

I just saw the trailer for this and I have to admit that my first impression is that Depp is not right for Wonka. The first movie, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was definitive for the Wonka role. Gene Wilder will never be surpassed nor even compared to. It makes me sad.

I'm looking to see how well he can do. I don't think I've ever been disappointed in a role that Depp has played.

Unlike a remake along the lines of say Evil Dead...

THIS one I am actually looking foward to. Depp is an amazing actor and I see him being quirkey enough to take over the role as Wonka. Throw in Tim Burton directing... and I have really high hopes for it.

Depp is a great actor I have to say, even though he plays in alot of the mainstream movies, I dont think he will be to bad, atleast its not Marilyn the pussy Manson being Wonka!(---who originally sought to have the role, according to his ridiculously big ego, he IS willy wonka) ha, maybe a wanker!

After watching this trailer, I understand your concern. It looks weird, but everything Burton does is weird. I have to see the whole movie before I decide if I like Depp as Wonka.

I still think Depp is too sexy for the role. :devildoll

depp fits in well in the weird, quirky land of burton. should be a good movie if everyone can keep from camparing it to the original (which is inevitable, unfortunately, since it was a big part of our generation's childhood). i'm looking forward to it and i'll gladly pay my $9.50. :)
