Artsmagic DVD Asian Cinema - Your Film Suggestions

Post by ArtsmagicDVD »

At ArtsmagicDVD we're always asking customers and reviewers for their opinions and suggestions on the films we should be releasing.
Since our US launch in May 2004 we have had a great response and are currently chasing new titles that have been suggested.
We're also currently contacting a number of magazines & websites that people have suggested we should work with. If you have any suggestions please let us know.

Right, let me briefly tell you about our releases.
A full release schedule for upcoming films can be seen here: http://www.artsmagicdvd.com/home/schedule/index.html
Our full catalogue of currently available titles are here: http://www.artsmagicdvd.com/catalogue/index.html

November saw the release of two movies from ArtsmagicDVD in the US:

“Highly imaginative and beautifully executed” - Roguecinema.com

“An amazingly entertaining adventure with gorgeous visuals and imagination to spare.” - Classics on DVD

OK, that's enough about what's coming out - feel free to fire away with any questions or suggestions!

Though my active searching for these films has pretty much stopped, I'd still like to see Lolita: Vibrator Torture and Kikuchi released. More subtitled Koji Wakamatsu would be nice too.

My suggestion is in the other spam thread.

Hi DylanDog,

We hope to have news on other films of Haisayau Sato soon, but not Lolita: Vibrator Torture.

Actually, I do have a suggestion. I'd love to see a proper release of Sweet Home subtitled. Video Search of Miami is selling a subbed version of it, but I hate dealing with them and their DVDs are sourced from their crappy VHS bootlegs.

Agreed!! My dub is from VSoM that I got in a trade ages ago... so being from VSoM you can guess the quality of the tape... it's not too bad... but it ain't too great either. I too would love to see this get a proper release... you would think it would considering the directors big success with Cure.

I have Lolita on bootleg DVD-R. Will you not be picking it up because of the actresses perceived age? Although the character is around 15 the actress was 20 years old at the time. I can understand, however, if that would make a distributor a little nervous.

That, and the licensor's asking price. :)

No kidding? I haven't been actively searching out movies for quite some time, but last I had heard L:VT was not available in any format whatsoever, subtitled or not. Same with Kikuchi. How is the movie?

Lolita Vibrator Torture was available on Japanese VHS at the time of it's release. That's pretty much where all the bootlegs have been coming from. No subs available of course. It's an okay film. It's reputation is more interesting than the results onscreen. A typical Japanese sexual predator on the loose film. With the requisite nubile schoolgirl being abducted by him, tortured with...yup a vibrator. A battle of wits ensues. Predictable, but well done. It's more suggestive in it's subject matter than really graphic. But remember, I'm as jaded as they come.
