Anthropophagus on DVD?
I did a little searching for this title on DVD and I can't seem to find one. I'd love to pick it up, it's been forever since I last watched it.

I read there's also an edition that comes with Anthrophagus and Andreas Schnass' sequel, limited to 2000. Don't know how recent that is, or if it's still available.
That link says I can't own the movie anymore! Bastards!

Ouch. I didn't even notice the price when I posted that. Pretty good movie, but not $45 good, imo. My dvd buying has pretty much stopped anyway.

I've been on a tear lately, Dave. I've found that people on ebay are selling a lot of imports way below what the usual suspects sell them for. Even when the ebay dealers price them way low and slam you on shipping, the price still comes out to considerably less than Diabolik or Exploited.

I've done some looking around ebay lately for it, but the problem with this movie is the same as when it was traded around on VHS boots. I had several copies of it with different titles and cuts from tape to tape. It was sometimes Maneater, sometimes Grim Reaper, sometimes Anthropophagous. I eventually found an uncut tape, but it took forever.
The same is happening with Ebay. Which is the uncut disc? No one ever seems to specify in their listing. The problem being that most of these sellers haven't ever seen it and have no idea.
And I'm a wicked stickler for uncut movies as I'm sure you are, judging by your posts.

eBay is actually my home page. But for movies, I'm always wary of those low prices, half expecting to get some dvd-r bootleg. I just tend to feel more comfortable ordering from reputable online sites.
Not that I think anyone here really cares to much about movie auctions, but I know lots of people (myself usually included) who can't stand it when people post live auctions. It's a MAJOR no-no in the toy community anyway. FWIW.

Truth be told: The Haute Tension disc I just got in the mail from an ebay sale was a boot. It looked like the Thai disc, but upon closer inspection, it was obvious. Especially when I opened the case to find a white label on the disc. The guy didn't even bother to print a label.
Not that I care. A movie's a movie to me and the only reason I bought it was because I could convert the OGM file that I'd downloaded into Mpeg2. I'm still bootlegging like a motherfucker and a particular bit torrent tracker that I'm partial to has completely elliminated the need for postage and trading. I still buy factory discs at a ratio of 3:1, though, so I don't feel too immoral.

Back when I was selling boots for a little while the Revok guy sent me an e-mail pretending to be a lawyer representing some obscure right holder, I got a good laugh out of it

So has anybody picked up the recent Shriek Show release of this yet? I found it at Best Buy the other day for $10.99 and snatched it up ( a real bargain at a price like that!). I've only watched a little bit and some of the extras. As best I can tell, this looks like the uncut version. The quality is also much better compared to the grainy bootleg that I had years ago. The second disc has some cool extras such as the alternate U.S. opening (using the "GRIM REAPER" title), a documentary on Joe D'Amato and a convention appearance with George Eastman and Zora Kerova. This is a cool set and at a price like that you really can't go wrong. I'm glad now I held off on getting any of those expensive imports. This looks like it might as well be the best version of this film out there, so go out and get a copy ASAP. I plan to watch the whole film at some point since I haven't seen it in awhile.
On a side note, does anyone know if there are any companies here in the States (i.e. Shriek Show or others) that plan to release MONSTER HUNTER on DVD in the near future? If so, that would be awesome.

Unhinged is pretty decent. I picked it up on a whim a few years ago, when it was under the IndieDVD label.
It's watchable, if you like slightly goofy horror films that were made rather cheaply (This one's not TOO cheap). It has it's touches of cheese ("Are you in there with one of your MEN?!?!"), humour, nudity, silly dialogue, etc. There's not a lot of gore and such, so if you're only looking for that...
Give it a chance.

Damnit, Beavis, put that away. You're not supposed to have your penis out when you're cooking.
I was reluctant to pick this up since I already have the dvd from Astro but I was sold on the really low price, $11.99, and the fact that I was pretty let down with my other dvd so I grabbed it and I'm really glad I did. All of the previous times I have watched this movie I found myself annoyed over the fact that there were a few scenes where I could barely see what was going on because the picture was so dark and I was able to enjoy the movie a lot more not having this problem with this dvd. Not only that but it was probably cheaper than any other copy of this movie that I have on dvd or vhs. The only thing the Astro dvd has over this is the fact that it’s extras include a cool shortened version of the movie that was released on Super-8 but extras and price aside the superior image quality of the Shriek Show release makes this one the winner hands down.
