Negadon

Post by DylanDog »

Nope, I don't know anything about it, other than it's cool as hell poster and that it premiere's in Japan with a limited release in November. But with Godzilla allegedly going on hiatus and Gamera reverting back to a more juvenile tone, perhaps this will ease the pain for kaiju eiga fans.

Yeah, I guess it's called Gamera: The Little Braves and is due out sometime next year.

They should release that fan movie of G4 instead. I want to see that.

Why would they go back to a children's series? They were getting it so very right...

I've only seen the first two new Gamera films. I guess the third sort of leaves you hanging a bit? If so, they should at least release that fan film to tie things up. If they want to switch direction after that, fine.

Anyway, here's the trailer for Negadon. Looks pretty cool. Too bad they don't actually show Negadon itself though.

It's a completely new, independent film. I'm hoping it's still playing in January while I'm over there. Not only does it look cool, but then I could score one of those posters they give away at the theatres. :)

The trailer for the new Gamera is here too, though unfortunately my crusty old pc won't play it. :(

Watched Revenge Of Iris last night. I can see what you mean that it doesn't seem to go all the way to the end, but I sort of liked it that way. I think we can take for granted that Gamera was just gonna go whoop ass on the Gyaos, but the story that needed to be told was over. I don't think the movie needed to be any longer than it was. That was one of the things I liked about Final Wars. After all the monster fights, I was wondering how it would be resolved with the humans, because the movie seemed like it would go on too long if there was another huge battle. I think bought films ended when and how they should have.

I think my disappointment with Iris was more that I'd heard it had much more destruction inflicted on humanity. Like Gamera was protecting humanity as a whole, not fussed if a few people got squished. That Gamera was more like an animal unconcerned with the people. I didn't really get that from the film. I think the first two of the Daiei series are the best Kaiju Eiga I've seen, so I was let down with the third. But there are things in it that are FANTASTIC.

D'oh! I just read that this movie is only 20 minutes long. It's an all CGI thing done by just one guy. Still interesting I'm sure, but not as exciting as I thought it would be.
