Marillion - at Chop Suey on September 16

Post by Frans »

Not sure if any West coast people here would like to see a 3 piece Marillion set (mostly acoustic material off Marbles), but it's definitely worth noting that there are several gigs planned in September featuring Hogarth, Rothery, and Trewavas. The final performance is right here in Seattle at Chop Suey on September 16th. :D

Would love to see them but Overkill is the same night and well given the choice between the 2 I have to go with the old school thrashers.

I will be doing a live broadcast of the Marillion in-store acoustic session inside Tower Records on September 15th on 5th Ave in Seattle (the broadcast will start early, around 4:30 PM). I will also do an interview with the band, so tune in or visit the store. Hope to meet some of you there!

More info will be posted here: http://www.thedividingline.com/rg.html

Sweet! I have heard very good reviews of this 3-piece performance. Come and say hello if you happen to catch the Tower Records (on 5th Ave N in Seattle) performance at 6 PM on Sept 15th.

Very sweet low-key informal and fairly mellow set. They played for 2 1/2 hours and really showed how well just 3 musicians could entertain a crowd.

The people in the back of the sold-out house couldn't see anything because the band were sitting down and the stage was low. There were a couple of covers in the set-list including Cloudbusting (Kate Bush), It's Too Late (Carole King) and Mrs. Robinson (S&G) that were jammed into other songs for no particular reason other than that it was fun. The band were clearly enjoying themselves and the audience got a lot of that vibe from the stage.

Bummer. I am glad I decided to go. It was incredible. However, being a near midget, I was mostly subject to staring at the backs of sweaty men. I only briefly was able to make my way toward the front to see the guys in their full glory. And I'm sure that I was one of the youngest people in the house. Still, totally worth it.

Next stop- Sigur Ros Sept 28th. Fuck yeah.
