Three words...
TONY FUCKING JAA!!!
All I kept thinking of was like a cheesey ass voice over going...
First they took the head of his beloved Ong-Bak... now they've taken his precious elephant...
So basically that's the jist of it... Tony Jaa fucking shit up trying to get back his elephants that they stole. Just kick ass!! The ending has to have the record for most "snapping of limbs" in one film... and I would love to know who the big fucker is that he fights in it. The guy is right out of a video game...
Loved it!

Yah, fucking great movie. I thought it was pretty muich the same as Ong Bak but this time they cut down on the stunts and cranked the fighting up to 11. The single-shot scene where Jaa was going up the different floors of the nightclub was killer.

Where did you guys see it with subtitles? I've been searching like a motherfucker for this movie and only wound up with an unsubtitled VCD. It's not like you really need subs, but they're nice. I mean, come on, how complicated is this movie?
There was spoken english, too, though.
Regardless, the VCD was adequate and the action met my expectations in a big way. That big one-shot fight scene as Kham climbs the stairs was so incredibly cool.
Also, Tony Jaa is going to be the next big thing.

We got the subtitled disc off of Ebay...
Funny you two mention that scene, as my hubby and I were going to dinner... like the nerd I am, I said to him... you know I totally forgot to mention that one Goodfellas'esq scene where he's going up the stairs... killer stuff...
Tony Jaa is the shit!!

On our subtitled disc...
The part where the one girl is attempting to give the news... during the English speaking scenes, there are still Thai (?-or whatever) subs going on... but this English subtitle comes up and says "Hey! It's police, not porece." It was hella funny...

Wow, man!
I just caught a feature-length trailer called THE PROTECTOR!
That makes TWO films by that title that Jackie Chan showed up in!
The Tony Jaa stuff was great, but all this did was make me want to watch the REAL movie...

Yeah--and headlining Jackie Chan (not one of his favorites).Latte Thunder wrote:Isn't The Protector that one with Danny Aiello?
But they just re-used the title for the Western release of the Tony Jaa film covered in this thread. And Jackie Chan has a cameo here, just to keep things confusing.
It's worth seeing on the big screen, but as I said, be warned that they put it through the meat grinder first. Hopefully they'll release the COMPLETE version on R1 DVD (as with SHAOLIN SOCCER).
