Keep an eye out for Evil Aliens

Post by Latte Thunder »

I've been reading twitchfilm.net daily for the last few months to see what kind of genre stuff is being produced in other parts of the world. They've been raving about this movie Evil Aliens since it showed at the Toronto Film Fest. The allegations are that it is relentlessly funny and a bloodbath from start to finish. I guess before this movie, the director made some low budget vampire movie called Razor Blade Smile. I haven't seen it, but Rue Morgue were pretty positive about it.

I landed a bootlef today and watched it and can agree with Twitch. It's very, very good. Absolutely ridiculous, but good. I'm reminded of Bad Taste. It's about this incident in Wales where a woman is impregnated by aliens and the investigation done by a super tabloidy news show that is investigating the claim. The aliens turn out to be real and the news people are forced to team up with these local yokels to fight them off. The movie has a geyser of blood shoot out of a guy's ass before five minutes has even passed.

It's a total gross out flick, Troma style, and the gore is actually very well done or a movie with no doubt very little budget. If you ever see it for sale or rent, definitely keep it in mind.

Watched it today. I wouldn't say I loved it, but it's definitely worth checking out. This is another one that tips it's hat to gore films that came before it. There's a blatant nod to Evil Dead 2 and a rather amusing one to Dead Alive. Day Of The Dead is actually mentioned by name. (Furthermore, a Watchmen lighter plays a significant role as well.) I didn't particularly care too much for the look of the aliens, too predator-ish for my tastes, but overrall they did a good job. I would probably put this one right on par with Dead And Breakfast. A good time, but no classic.

I agree on the overkill a bit on the CG... but there was more then enough good things about this film that made up for it.

Nice call Latte... LOVED it!

generally i don't **** cgi but because this movioe is so ridiculous it didn't bother me. It's not one of my favorite movies but was still very enjoyable. I think anyone who enjoys a good splatter comedy will enjoy this :) It's nice to know someone out there is still making movies like this.
