X-Men 3
Anyone else seen this yet?
I thought it had it's moments but wasn't near as good as the other two. I wish Bryan Singer would have stayed and finished off the trilogy as director. Some good action sequences though!

Just got back from seeing it and have to agree. This entry does have it's moments but it just doesn't measure up to the first two films. The story (while good and interesting) just didn't grab me the way the first two did. But the action scenes were pretty decent and there were some nice twists along the way. Beast and Juggernaut were pretty cool and it was nice to see more of Colossus. Without giving away any spoilers, those who complained about the lack of Cyclops in the last film are in for a disappointment since he has even less this time around. Ditto for Mystique, although she does have a few decent moments. In short, not the best entry in the series but worth seeing if you liked the first two. I'm not sure if this one will be the final film but if they do a fourth one, hopefully it will be better.
I was also disappointed that Bryan Singer didn't stay on board for this one. Brett Ratner did a fairly good job, but I can't help but wonder how Singer would have done this one differently. The good news is that Singer passed on X3 to do SUPERMAN RETURNS. Can't wait to see how he handles that since the Superman franchise definitely needed a shot in the arm.

Yeah--you could tell that this came from the director of RUSH HOUR and not the director of THE USUAL SUSPECTS. Then again, I liked RUSH HOUR and I liked THE USUAL SUSPECTS.
I think we've all gotten the "point" of the X-MEN film series by now ("We don't need a cure!"--gee, I wonder what rights group is REALLY being reflected here?), but it remains interesting to see a "superhero" series that does NOT actually involve "crimefighters" (though they must frequently act against the activities of their own kind). And the action was fine--even though Magneto COULD have commandeered a boat or two, the Golden Gate Bridge stunt was an appropriate show-stopper.
Characters? Eh. The ones who were firmly established in the first two films were just fine--and I especially enjoyed the "twenty years younger" Xavier and Magneto sequence. But now we're settling for punchlines a little too often (okay, "Grow THOSE back" made me smile), and I thought that Jughead or whatever his name was was simply a bit TOO silly and an excuse for unnecessary mild profanity and bathroom jokes (my son asked me "Is 'dickhead' a bad word?"--something I didn't have to care about earlier).
I enjoyed Multiple Man's shining moment, wish I could have learned more about that evil mutant that looked like an Asian Hilary Swank, and thought the Angel stuff was WAY too obvious, from the "Oh, my God, not you, too!" opening through the "Good thing I just HAPPENED to be flying by at that particular moment" climax.
A decent time at the movies, nothing more profound. Oh, and if you do go, make sure you stay through the end credits.

I think it was missing effort. Effort in acting, script, energy, etc.
It was an alright Summer flick though.

it pissed me off that they made juggernaut a mutant in the movie, when in the comic books he isnt a mutant... along with other things, because i am an x-men purist, but still the same, there were a couple parts where i got teary-eyed... especially over what logan had to do...

hahah! totally. Im no x-men geek, but my roommate is THE x-men geek. No joke, i mean he knows so much crap about that stuff its unreal. Although, i do know that x-men is one the most, if not the most in-depth comics ever made. With more character than anyone could remember and a serious backstory for all of them, i can guess the movie(s) will stay action based with less emphasis on the plot since its sorta like the lord of the rings thing(where the movies made less sense in parts because of the lack of details on the backstory) Regardless i believe these movies are the type that are meant to be good once anyway, repeat viewing is not really worth it. Anyway, i havent even seen it yet, but since the overall opinion isnt "IT SUCKS" ill check it.
