Shadows Fall Is Not Metalcore

They have a new album "Fallout from the War" coming in a couple weeks but.....

They really are the closest thing to a throwback from the 80's generation of bands similiar to Skid Row and Ratt not exactly the same, but they have that feeling.

Talented guitarist, talented all around.

Actually they do have a strong dose of metalcore and they don't sound anything like those other bands. And Skid Row and Ratt were way better. OK, maybe not Ratt, but Skid Row was.

a7x is more of a throwback to the 80's bands than shadows fall.

are you really going to catetgorize shadows fall with bands like otep, korn, shitknot and ill nino? surely you jest, shadows fall isnt nu metal. they might be a handfull of other lame categorizations of the metal genre, but certainly not nu metal.

I just gave a shadows fail CD to a buddy i work with the other week. Im just glad i got it free at their show. Im also glad i wasnt one of the people there to see shadow fall, Cephalic Carnage opened. Its not like i hate the band, they are ok i guess, its just not my style. On the catagories thing however: WHO CARES. Catagorizing everything just limits it. I think Nergal from Behemoth said something wise once about catagorizing music.....but i can't remember what he said. It was DEEP though. haha.

They've definitely got some metalcore in their sound, but there's some classic thrash in there too, and great solos. Shadows Fall is way way better than bands like Killswitch Engage and Lamb of God.
And Ryan, just out of curiosity, how in the hell could you possibly think Shadows Fall sounds like Ratt or Skid Row? When you hear Slayer do you think it's Winger until you're informed otherwise?
