Happy Birthday Remo D!

Happy 41 you old codger! Knowing there's at least one horror freak older than me round these parts (I hit the big 40 real soon) is great. It's been great having you on the forums for so long!

Home away from home, my friend--you guys invited me, and I was more than happy to accept. And SOMETHING must have kept me around, eh?

Thanks very much--and I'll keep an eye out for your big 4-0, kay?

Happy birthday to my favorite movie reviewer. You're pretty much the only person I trust in that respect. Hope you had a good one.

Ditto to that. If Remo says it's good, I can count on it being good.

Happy birthday, dude.

And even if it isn't worth seeing, you'll know that Remo's review will be worth reading. Happy birthday and keep up the good work!

Wow. I really appreciate the kind feedback. My style is a lot more informal and off-the-cuff here than it is on the printed page, but I take it every bit as seriously, and I'm glad that it shows. I'm not composing professional reviews for publishers here--I'm having a conversation with friends old and new... and you crew are all the proof anyone could need that it's completely worth doing and doing right (not to mention why I keep trying to see... not QUITE everything anymore, you've probably noticed, but still pretty damn close!).

In it for the long haul,

Shane "Remo D." Dallmann

Which is much appreciated considering it must be hard to type with only one hand.

Sorry this is late, but happy birthday from me as well. I also always look forward to your reviews Remo. Even if I don't always agree with your opinions, reading your thoughts on a movie give me enough insight as to whether it is something to waste my time and hard-earned money on. Hope you had a great one Remo and keep those reviews coming:cheers:

Thanks (and belated happy birthday) to Steven--and thanks to Griff, as well!

A compilation? Never really gave it serious thought--I show up and fire away, and it's all archived... not sure I'd even know where to start! You mean for a separate site?

Yeah, I guess it would be a difficult task and perhaps a little vague when taken out of context (e.g. "I agree with everything here but would just like to add..." type posts).

Just me thinking out loud, I guess. They're so wonderfully informal it would be something a little different to see them presented in a formal manner.

But it would be cool to see a book called Remo's One Handed Filth Reviews.

You could have a scale that went from Arrrr!!!! to Makes Me Want to Shove Me Hook In Me Eye To Prevent Further Viewing.

Oh, believe me, I want to get a book out there very badly.

I'm just SLIGHTLY concerned that "One-Handed Filth Reviews" just might give someone the wrong idea...

Only perverts would be confused. You're not writing for perverts, are you?

No, not that I'm aware of, anyway. Lame joke (what's he doing with his OTHER hand?).

But speaking of pirates? Was anyone watching Spike TV last Halloween season when they did their little marathon featuring several HHU members? I almost got to be a part of that, but they really had no time to put anything together except at the last minute. A few of my host buddies DID get some segments on the air...

...but what nobody told us ahead of time was that the lion's share of "horror hosting" duties would go to Spike's new embodiment of none other than Captain Morgan! Yes. As in the rum they were selling. Let me tell you--that set off a barrage of "pirate" jokes... except that WE already HAD a pirate character!

See--concurrently with MANOR, my compadre Dave Deacon produces a children's show known as CAPTAIN GUPPY--yep, he's a pirate, lost at sea, and he encounters animal facts, storytime, cartoons, etc. VERY simple matter to have Captain Guppy show up at the Manor (and sabotage a season's worth of shows in the process, which we blamed on The Bone Jangler--but that's another story). Our punchline: "Pirates and horror hosts DON'T MIX!"

And only a few people knew what the hell we were talking about. Now you know, too!
