I actually like some of the albums mentioned, particularly Load and Against Actually Against is the first album I ever re-bought after selling it.
As for my own personal worsts, I dunno. St. Anger is definately up there. Last year had a ton of shitty albums by bands I love, such as the abominations from Dio, Vintersorg, Wolverine and Pain Of Salvation. Then there's the comedy of Sacred Steel, the unlistenable swill that is Darkthrone and lest I forget the shit that Metal Blade continues to push down our throats in the form of Six Feet Under.
So much to hate, so little time.

those 2 albums are some of the most self indulgent tripe I have ever heard from any band. they should be titled 'axls over-inflated ego 1 & 2'.gsfnw wrote:But UYI 1 & 2? C'mon now.
GIANT pieces of shit.
there is occassionaly a nice slash guitar part/solo,but as a whole those albums suck donkey balls. very over hyped, over rated boring wastes of studio time.
and quite a nice way to gouge fans for 2 pieces of shit instead of just making it a double disc release. fuckin pricks.

Please. There are a couple of absolute masterpieces on those records. Is there some crap on them? Yes.
Over produced? Hell yes. I just imagine the pressure of trying to follow up Appetite for Destruction, and cut him a little slack.

masterpieces? thats funny, tremendously tacky piles of crap is more appropriate.gsfnw wrote:Please. There are a couple of absolute masterpieces on those records. Is there some crap on them? Yes.

cut axl a little slack? fucking never. those albums just prove that all his good shit was appetite. ever heard the phrase dont put all your eggs in one basket? it probobly took his lame ass 10 years to write enough songs for appetite, suddenly he has to actually write from scratch and not spend years perfecting 10-12 songs. the guys a fucking gimp. if there EVER is another GNR disc,it better kick ass on everything he's ever done,he's had years to get this one right, maybe he'll have another AFD. but without that original lineup. I doubt it.

Piles of crap? No way! As for the original band? Have you heard their solo stuff? It's complete shit. Besides, the best songs off of UYI 1 and 2 were never released as singles anyway, and that's most of what the public has heard. Radio singles.Jef wrote:masterpieces? thats funny, tremendously tacky piles of crap is more appropriate.

Also, I'd say check out the End of Days soundtrack for the GNR track. it will give you an idea of what direction Axl is going in, and it owns everything that the old band has done. I've heard a few Chinese Democracy tracks and they are fucking amazing songs. I do fear that the album will be way over produced though. But the songs are very, very amazing. For a GNR fan anyway.

Really? I've head this account from a few different people, and I think I even saw an old clip of Kurt talking about it (at woodstock) and the fight started because Kurt told Axel that he should be the godfather of his children.

it was never a fight with kurt and axl. gnr bassist or guitarist (cant remember which) picked a fight with krist of nirvana because axl was pissed off at kurt at the mtv music awards for courtney making a joke about axl being the godfather of their baby... damn i know too much useless nirvana stuff.AllocesThroat wrote:Really? Actually, there was no fight. What happened was that Kurt asked Axl to be the godfather of his children backstage at the MTV awards because Axl had made comments about drug addicts raising children. Axl got pissed when Courtney began running her mouth and told Kurt to "SHut his bitch up", so Kurt looked at Courtney and said "Shut up bitch" and everyone laughed at Axl, deservedly so. That was all, no fight. Besides, do you really believe that Kurt Cobain could have kicked anyones ass? I don't.

Yeah, Almost as bad as St. Anger.Adremelech wrote:While this album has some great songs on it (and a few duds too), it has the WORST mixing and mastering job of any major label album that I have ever heard in my life. It's so bad that it makes this album unlistenable.
RUSH tried their hand at mixing with Pro-tools or Q-base or some such software themselves with some assistance. (Can't remember, but it's in the notes on the CD) Great musicians and songwriters, but leave the techy stuff to the techs boy's. Focus on your strengths.
It's not the numbers of strings you play that counts....It's the GIRTH.

Yay for necroposting! And over a year... bravo!
I'll bite though.
Midnight - Sadaka
Fucking TERRIBLE. Worst bullshit ever. I kept this album just because it is so terrible and no one would ever believe the extent of shittyness it is.
Angel - A Woman's Diary pt. 1
I hope she never makes a part 2. Horrible, horrible record.

I wish they would go back to analog! Signals is the best sounding album they have, IMHO. Listen to "Digital Man" on an audiophile grade sound system, and it sounds like the band is right in front of you. The levels are perfect, it has excellent dynamic range and headroom, and the imaging is perfect. Its too bad that analog is such a pain to mix and master, because the end product is usually better than digital. It could be the different production techniques today also that cause todays shitty sounding CD's, but either way... I love the sound of good ol' analog recordings. Not That Steve Harris wrote:Yeah, Almost as bad as St. Anger.

Vapor trails though has all of the levels maxed out, there is NO headroom at ALL. The imaging is terrible. All of the instruments, and the vocals, are just piled on top of each other and are all blurred together. Its sad because songs like "Earthshine" are great, but it sounds so bad that I just can't enjoy it. For God's sake... There is audible CLIPPING on several of the songs. That is pathetic.

yep,.....I still think caress of steel is my fav....simply because it sounds so analog.....because,there was no other option.Adremelech wrote:I wish they would go back to analog! 'no one at the bridge' & 'necromancer' ..... what more do ya need?
they are definatly a band that excels when they have a great producer,...it was foolish to do VT on their own.....but with all the shit they had been through (mostly neil) I think it was a case of just seeing if they really wanted to continue,.....that disc would have been a great demo.....too bad they didnt go somewhere and record those songs for real.

In the VT notes, there are multiple "Additional mastering by..." credits, which indicates to me that they knew early on that it was a turd, and they sent it to several magicians to try to fix it.Jef wrote:they are definatly a band that excels when they have a great producer,...it was foolish to do VT on their own.....but with all the shit they had been through (mostly neil) I think it was a case of just seeing if they really wanted to continue,.....that disc would have been a great demo.....too bad they didnt go somewhere and record those songs for real.

Obviously i can't even remember the worst album i've ever heard but im about to attempt to think of something really bad:
El Santo - Mixamitosis
I bought this album at a show for 5$ in hopes of some crazy gore grind, but it turned out to be some shitty goregrind with some decent high vocals. I guess it was just the last big dissapointment of an album i bought semi recently that came to mind. I suppose im not contributing much to this thread since it became a "who hates metallica more now" thread. But whatever "el santo" is my vote!
