There are a few different ways that people are able to play in the Beta. Buying a specially marked copy of Crackdown may be the only way that you can still get into the Beta however.

That's how I understand it. However I have seen a good number of people on my friends list already playing the "Pimps at Sea" alpha for some time already. Those folks would probably be playing the beta as well.

The Crackdown-delivered (for us regular folks who are not friends or family) beta seems pretty cool from the little (2 games) I played last night. Sort of a combination of Halo 1 + Halo 2 multiplayer with some new weapons and powerups. The assault rifle is back in all of it's glory as well :)
