So am I the only one who went to see Fantasic Four?

As in not off. If you want to post about mainstream flicks, this is the forum.

So I have not seen any posts about Rise Of The Silver Surfer. Is my taste in cinema so bad that I am the only one who liked it?

I saw Fantastic Four and Spider-Man 3 this weekend. Spider-Man was a better movie. FF: Rise Of The Silver Surfer was watchable. It had some excitement but was flat overall. I was disappointed by how Galactus was depicted. I really love how Galactus looked in the comics. Oh well. B-

You should check out the debate on how Galactus was depicted that is happening on the IMDB forums. Total geek fight insanity! :D

Seriously, I didn't think the movie was by any means a contender for "Best epic of the summer" or anything. I just enjoy turning by brain off for a few hours and enjoy big explosions and campy dialog. And that movie had some damn campy dialog! :headshot:

The first fantastic 4 movie had me wanting to gouge my eyes and ears out, so I will definitely be avoiding the craptastic monstrousity at all costs. I mean, jeez - if they didn't have such SHITTY acting in pretty much 98% of comic book movies, maybe I'd actually like them a little bit. It's just that they've got a built-in fan base, so they don't have to worry about quality.

I have zero intention of seeing this movie but I was very interested in seeing how Galactus worked out. I knew he wouldn't be the guy in the purple suit that he's been in the comics, so are there any screenshots or anything of him?

What did he look like? Was he huge?

Well that is the debate. Some say that they only showed the swirling debris that would follow him. Others say that the swirling debris was him. Did they show him? Can't say for sure and there is a good debate for both sides.

I think the only part of them I don't like is the guy who plays Dr. Doom. If that is where the bad acting rap lies, sure. But I think the folks who play the four themselves are great. They seem to have great chemistry and just the right flair for the humor. Funny, but not too over the top silly (ok, ok, Mr. Fantastic's dance scene notwithstanding...Note to filmmakers....no more dancing super heroes!) I think the CG looks cool and the action sequences are fine. I should note here that I never read the FF comics when I was younger, but the guy at my local comic shop tells me that they were more humor than action oriented, which I think these films reflect. I really enjoyed BOTH FF movies. In fact, I liked both better than all 3 Spiderman movies! So.....FLAME ON!!! (I can't believe I just typed that.....)

The first FANTASTIC FOUR movie did nothing for me, so I had good reason to skip this one. From what I've heard I didn't really miss anything by doing so. I doubt I'll even see the DVD when it comes out. SPIDER-MAN 3 really kicked ass and I'll take it over FF anyday.
