Most Depressing albums list

Post by MattV »

lately I've been doing an experiment, I have been asking people what albums they listen to when extremely depressed, or albums they believe capture that feeling. Please list yours!

here is mine,

The Cure - Disintegration
Lycia - Cold
Joy Division - Closer
Xasthur - Suicide in dark serenity EP
Rome - Nera
Merzbow - Minazo Vol. 1
Brighter Death Now - Innerwar

What a interesting question! I've thought of posting this very thread myself several times.

Being all to familiar with too many fucking years of near suicidal depression, or soulicide as I've come to call it, these songs have always been at the top of that need-to-listen-to list. Unfortunatly, I can easily name them off the top of my head.

Godflesh ~ Head Dirt
Sepultura ~ Altered States
Testament ~ The Ballad
Metallica ~ Fade to Black
Kreator ~ Some Pain Will Last and Betrayer
Slayer ~ South of Heaven
Big Black ~ Both albums: Atomizer and Hammer Party
The Soundtrack for Hellraiser
Pink Floyd ~ Dark Side of the Moon
Rush ~ 2112
Carnivore ~ Five Billion Dead
Megadeth ~ In my Darkerst Hour
Cro-Mags ~ The Only One
Forced Entry ~ Never a know, but the no

I'm sure I'll think of a few more, but those, well... those have got me through a lot.
I made the Devil do it.

You know the Fascination Street maxi-single could be considered depressing too if Disintegration is to be considerd so...it has some unreleased tracks from the album that are all on a down sort of mood..

I think the most depressing album i own that i can think of is gorguts- obscura. Anyone that knows that album knows how dark and sad parts of that album are. And yet i love it more than 90% of the shit i own.

Also El Santo "metamorphosis". I spent 5 bucks on that cd and its the worst goregrind ive had to bear, THAT was depressing.
