Hatchet

Hatchet is getting a ton of positive press and a lot of lofty claims that it restores something lost from the horror genre ages ago. While I don't really know what it found that horror has been missing, it was still a very enjoyable slasher flick that was balls-out gory and genuinely funny as well. Rather than try and keep pace with contemporary studio horror (Saw/Hostel) it manages to avoid being a constant festival of references and cameos (only a couple) and keeps a sense of humor that isn't quite Re-Animator funny.

It's good fun but nothing terribly original.

Yeah, I enjoyed it but it's boasts of being 'old school American horror' and 'original' are a bit dangerous. HATCHET is a bunch of silly fun that borrows from the backwoods slasher flicks of the 80's. Its got some great kills and nudity to match but is far too light hearted to warrant the kinda "this is the horror movie you've been waiting for!" reactions its been getting from some of the... less reputable film journalism sites out there.

That said, it is alot of fun and, by all means, make sure you check it out if you get the chance. Just don't subscribe 100% to the hype or you may be disappointed.

Hatchet was gory as the law allows. But I didn't think much of it. Just dumb people getting hacked in the woods.

I was entertained but I won't watch it again...

Its not all its hyped to be...

Another horror film that was just as dumb and entertaining, but I WILL watch again was Plane Dead.

Just picture the Dawn Of The Dead remake on an air plane. Yea is sound like it would suck but it was a load of fucking fun. Great gore, cool zombies, great tense shit. Loved it. See it.
Check out my MOVIE: Black Devi Doll

I too loved Plane Dead (aka Flight of the Living Dead)... Snakes on a Plane meets Dawn of the Dead remake. Good stuff.

If you don't feel like waiting until the DVD comes out or downloading it... check out: http://support.forumgogo.com/thread-851-1-5.html
