Am I the only person who wants to see this one? I'm so excited! I've got Saw 3 coming on Friday too.

I'm pretty much over these movies now. You know they already have a script and a director for Saw 5? The fucking fourth one isn't even out yet!

I am just going to wait for the recap at the start of Saw 5 and save $32.

Yes Lode. So far it seems as if you are the only one:) I'm with Latte here. While I liked the others to a degree, the series as a whole doesn't hold a lot of interest to me. After seeing the first one on video, I caught the second one during its theatrical run. I only got around to seeing part 3 a few months ago so I'm in no hurry to see part 4 when it comes out. I'd much rather go see 30 DAYS OF NIGHT or catch up on recent DVD purchases before seeing SAW 4. I honestly don't see it offering much that wasn't already established in the first three movies, so if I do see it I'll probably wait for video. But I'll still look for Remo's review regardless since he seems them all....well "most" of them anyway;)

I'll be going to a midnight screening on Thursday if I can find one. I have enjoyed the whole series.

Ooh, that's a good idea. I took Friday off because it's my birthday, so I should do that too. I'm going to have to see if I can find one too...

I'm sure I'll check it out at some point, though whether or not that happens in a theatre remains to be seen. I loved 1, was disappointed with 2 and like 3 much more than I thought I would. But I still am more interested in 30 Days of Night, which is a bit weird since I didn't much care for the GN.

Same here. I really didn't care for the comics at all. After all that hype and huge resale prices on ebay, you'd think it would have been a better book. Also, I hated Templesmith's art. Still, here I am, really wanting to see the movie.

Weird that.

Also just found out that there's already a script and the greenlight for Saw 6. What the fuck is going on down there?

Just got back and thought it was a fucking great movie. I wondered how the they would continue after III but they made it happen and did a damn good job of it. I'll probably go see it again this weekend.

If you haven't seen 1, 2 and 3 don't see this, you will not understand a lot.

Really. Wow, I thought for sure it would blow. I liked the last one more than part 2... Now I gotta go check it out.

I don't believe it. I am quite literally stunned. They've killed off the major characters (INCLUDING Jigsaw and Amanda) and they intend to keep this going past the point where even I started expressing my first hints of impatience. SAW III was good enough for me to recommend, but I felt that the seams were showing and it was time for the franchise to quit while it was still ahead... before it got to the inevitable flop entry (at which point they'd probably just remake the FIRST one, right?).

I went in to SAW IV with severely limited expectations. But what I got more than exceeded them--on both a visceral level (the traps, it should go without saying, were as nasty and ingenious as ever) and on a screenwriting level... this one not only topped SAW III but actually went back and IMPROVED it in retrospect by clearing up its most nagging improbabilities.

Of course, that means going back and enhancing the backstory yet again (note that I did NOT say "rewriting" it). But what eventually did Michael and Jason in is still working fine for old Jigsaw, apparently. And that's the nature of the series... it's a literal puzzle, and each installment adds more pieces to BOTH sides of the section you just finished working on.

Now, the critics are absolutely right in one respect... this is a series that makes NO concession to the viewer who comes in late. This is not FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 7 (to toss off a random example), where it doesn't matter a damn whether or not you saw the first six. I can only imagine what would be going through the head of the unsuspecting audience member who got dragged along to see SAW IV after successfully avoiding the first three.

"HUH?"

Not that that reaction completely passed ME by, either. The movie seemed to need a scorecard at times, but the SAW folks have repeatedly proven that they really do account for themselves, so I'd imagine that another viewing will direct my attention to a detail or two that I might have let pass by in the excitement (look, I know who the guy with his mouth stitched shut in the early going was, but who was the big guy who got the "eyelid" treatment and what was HE doing in the trap?).

The series continues to fascinate me--finding new ways to make me cringe but making it impossible to look away.

We've already started groaning about a fifth and sixth entry. But on the strength of SAW IV? I'll walk into the fifth one with more optimism than I did this time around. And I'll say "Show me what you've got."

Saw it today and liked it a lot myself, although you do really need a scorecard, as Remo suggests. I felt like I need to go back an re-watch the whole series again just to comprehend it all. Try as I might, I can't come up with the motivation behind the villain in this one.

I'm sure the motivation of the villain will be revealed in V. I *think* I understood IV a lot better after my second time :)

Great movie, much better then III. Flowed better and yeah, if you have not seen the first three, this would confuse a person. Because it all takes place at the same time as III is happening. Almost a Torrentino twist of putting the story line together.

Like the way the left the questions for people so they can keep cashing in on this series. :)

I re-watched 1-3 this weekend and noticed something rather amusing.

SPOILER ALERT

In part 3 when they are going through the crime scene after Troy's test, Rigg, Kerry and Hoffman are examining the evidence, Rigg is telling Kerry that it's not her fault and that the person who is at fault is still out there. When he says "out there" he points to his left toward the wall....and Hoffman! Hoffman was kneeling down so it wasn't like he pointed right at him, but it was definitely in his direction. Kinda funny in hindsight.
