Favorite TV shows?
I know this is a movie thread but I don't see one for TV shows???
I just wanted to start a thread about people's favorite TV shows, any recommendations, etc.
I thought The Riches was great last season- who doesn't love gypsy con men? And Eddie Izzard is freakin hilarious! Also liked Dexter... interesting concept there.
What do you guys think?

I did see some of Dexter, which was a great concept. Bizarre! These four series are the ones I watch every time:
Medium - (NBC) starts back up on Monday night. Some shows are fantastic, some are not so great, but the fantastic ones make it worth watching.
Lost - (ABC) Can't wait for the premiere the end of January! I'm so glad they are planning the end of the show already. One more year after this, so many questions to be answered! Season 2 kinda "lost" me, haha.
Big Love - (HBO) The season finale was pretty intense. Can't wait for the third season. I am fascinated with the concept of polygamy.
Metalocalypse (Adult Swim - Cartoon Network) - What else can I say? Dethklok!!!
I occasionally watch Ace of Cakes & Everyday Italian on the Food Network (Giada is so hot! How does she stay so skinny while cooking all that great food???)
I will also watch LA Ink & Take Home Chef on TLC if I get the chance.

I watch a lot of TV.
I loved The Riches. Damages, Eureka, Burn Notice, Mad Men, and Rescue Me were great shows on the same schedule.
My Name Is Earl, Chuck, Life, CSI, Reaper, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, The Soup and How I Met Your Mother have been enjoyable.
Many of [adult swim]'s programs are pretty good but they have been airing a lot of crap in recent years. Gone are the days when I could leave it on that channel for three hours straight and get consistently awesome programming.
I skipped out on Lost and Heroes because I will watch them on DVD someday. Lost was too frustrating to watch each episode as they always added new twists and never resolved or explained anything.

I tried to like Heroes, but I finally had enough 4 or 5 episodes into the second season and gave up on it.
I'm not sure if either The Trailer Park Boys or The IT Crowd are coming back so that basically leaves Avatar: The Last Airbender as the only show on tv I like.

Dylandog, I know what you mean about Heroes. I loved season 1, and then season 2 was just so disappointing... I had to talk myself into watching them- "come on, only 2 more episodes, then you're done." It was pretty pathetic, but I felt I needed to finish the season.
Although I suppose sucky shows are better than no shows... hopefully the WGA strike won't last too much longer. I guess there is always TV on dvd- I'm going to hit up Blockbuster tomorrow since season 1 of The Riches is out on DVD tomorrow.

FINALLY! Someone agrees with me about Lost! This show is so annoying, especially when some things are just never resolved, like they forgot about them. Heroes is kind of the same way, but not quite as disjointed.AchimbaProphet wrote:I watch a lot of TV.

No way. I loved the 2nd season. It made the island more understandable. That Ben guy is a great actor.misterarthur wrote:FINALLY! Someone agrees with me about Lost! I bought the 1st and 2nd season as soon as they came out on DVD. I love it.

There is a difference between watching the show on DVD versus watching it as it airs though. I watched season one on DVD and was loving it. I started watching season two as it aired. It was very frustrating for me. I found this series to be much better when viewed as a marathon. I decided to not watch aired episodes ever again. Season three was released on DVD and I will be watching season two and three on DVD soon. I think that it is a good show. I just can not wait for each new episode to be aired. I have a lot of unanswered questions and I hope that they are addressed.Frank the Hammer wrote:No way. I loved the 2nd season. It made the island more understandable. That Ben guy is a great actor.

roadkill scam
hey kids-
i found a funny link on youtube with eddie izzard and his kids from "the riches." He's trying to teach them a scam using a roadkill cat. It's Eddie at his babbling-rambling finest.

I really don't keep up with much of today's shows since I mainly watch movies and news when I'm at home. But I did watch the first two episodes of "Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles" and thought it was interesting enough that I'm sticking with it. I also like "Desperate Housewives" and am really pissed that the writer's strike has brought the season to a standstill (I want more episodes dammit!!!) I also like to watch "E! True Hollywood Story" only if I find the subject interesting. Other shows of the past that I watch on DVD are as follows:
"Married with Children" - the funniest show ever and my all-time favorite growing up
"Melrose Place" - I spent the whole 90's watching this show. It was campy, sleazy, trashy and fun and I'm damn proud to own the DVDs.
"Beverly Hills 90210" - same as above. Yeah not as trashy as MP but I loved it anyway:)
"Twin Peaks" - this show was terrific and definitely ahead of its time. I'm sad that it didn't get a third season to resolve all those cliffhangers:( But it still lives on DVD.
That's all I can think of for now.

Nip/Tuck and Aqua Teen Hunger Force are probably my 2 favorites right now. It seems like Nip/Tuck never gets old, they always have good twists in the story and ATHF is just hilarious. Dexter is pretty good too.
Trailer Park Boys was my favorite for a long time but the last 2 seasons have been pretty lacking imo. Still some good laughs but not as good story-wise as the first few seasons.
I wish The Simpsons was still funny... :/
