New Metallica
what did you think?? It played on the RIcker show at HIGH NOON on KISW. Click here if you didn't here it:

I thought it was Ok, about half way through the tune it started to sound and feel like metal. It kinda sounded like they took ONE, SANITARIUM, FADE TO BLACK and THE UNFORGIVEN and took all those good riffs then made a song. Just my 2 cents.

GOT RAPE ROCK?
GOT RAPE ROCK?
I was only able to hear about half of it since I was at work and had to go on a run, but what I heard, it sounded pretty good.

Even though it's not a 100% "return to form," it's still the best stuff I've heard from Metallica since the Black Album. I'm buying Death Magnetic in the hopes that if it destroys St. Anger's sales, they'll be even more inspired to NEVER WRITE GAY SHIT LIKE THAT EVER AGAIN.

That's what I was thinking, too. The kick drum is WAAAAY forward in the mix, with a ridiculous "slap" effect that is downright annoying. I'll have to hear more tracks from this new release, but for ME... for NOW...
Not very impressed.
OH - and ANOTHER thing - Does KISW REALLY need to play this new song so often? That's getting on my nerves more than anything.

Well, you've got a POINT...
But I still don't know why they DO this. Do they think people will end up loving a song if it's pounded into their skull 500 times a day? Yeah... payola no longer exists!

Well, it's not bad...but it ain't great either. I'm glad that they ditch the St. Anger format. I'll reserve my overall judgement when I have the chance to listen to the entire album a few times. As always with post-1990 Metallica, time will tell on this one.

Word word word!
And MG, I thought they should have changed their name after the black album. Allot of it's good rock, just not Metallica.

On Oof's thread, I got as far as listening to one of the song's up untill James started in and wham-o! That was enough of that crap.
RIP the Hetfield that could growl.
*edit
Alright, I went back and listened to Jeff's link to give it a fairer chance than I had intended and... meh. As I was reading the comments, I believe the person that wrote this summed it up nicely:
"It sounds like Metallica trying to sound like Metallica"

that album was good for me when I was in elementary school, but there's soooo many other better bands to listen to, as you all know. When I recently watched a performance of metallica performing Dyers Eve, I was quite disappointed. Whiny, yelpy cowboy vocals, and shitty drums (those drums were okay for 87-88, he could of made it better, but he can't, he sucks at drumming). I hope they don't go on tour, I hope they quit.gunther wrote:cliff died, they should have quit then.not to sound negative, because "And Justice For All"was a pretty good album also,I just don't feel the anger and hunger from them anymore.

Still awfully weak. His vocals suck. It's NOT a "return to form". A couple bright spots in one song don't make me want to buy an album. I'll need to hear a lot more. I can't wait to hear the next Megadeth CD.
I say we take off and Nuke them from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. -Ripley

Yeah but at least those bands have stayed true to what they write and play. Unlike the gay ass Lars, Kirk and James who have done just the opposite and sold out !!!!!! I understand we all need to pay bills but I have not been impressed with anything since Master!!!!Morbid wrote:Better than hearing Nickelback and Three Days Grace every other song
