On September 26, 2006, President Bush urged Congress to consider revising federal laws so that the U.S. military could seize control immediately in the aftermath of a natural disaster, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. These changes were repealed in their entirety in 2008.
In early 2006, the 109th Congress passed a bill containing controversial provisions that granted the President additional rights to use federal or state National Guard Troops inside the United States in emergency situations. These changes were included in the John Warner Defense Appropriation Act for Fiscal Year 2007 (H.R. 5122.ENR) These changes were repealed in their entirety in 2008.
Footnote: All changes have been repealed, and have changed back to the original state of the Insurrection Act of 1807.
And now they are rotating troops into North America for the purpose of combating "civil unrest" in the "homeland" starting October 1.
I'm sure sdirt or derek will have some way to rationalize this. After all, this is what the Bush family and their fellow national-corporatists have been promising and working toward for the last 60 years.
I'm sure they'll be the first to start watching their neighbors and freinds for any "unpatriotic" activity.

Let's say the shit does hit the fan like many predict. People are starving and desperate for food and supplies. It won't take long before there will be serious civil unrest. Mass theft, looting, arson, and probably even rapes and murders to boot. If the government sees this as imminent, then it may be a good thing that the streets will be patrolled by military to control some of the mayhem.

I have my stockpile of canned food to last a while, a water filter and a nearby creek, and plenty of ammo just in case it really does get that bad, which I still doubt. I have NO doubt though that the wallets of us and our kids will be sodomized by this for a LONG time.

So... After watching the lynch mobs at the McCain and Palin speeches, I think that the troops will be deployed throughout the south and in other areas of racial intolerance. As soon as the "Big scary black man" wins the presidency next month, there WILL be riots. Lots of them.
I'm going to enjoy watching guys named Cletus, Earl, Jethro and Hank and all of their intolerant dumbass friends go apeshit when the scary muslim terrorist takes office. Screw them.
