Back in the day

Post by Ciaran »

I popped in ...And Justice For All last night and I remembered that there was a time when I was a teenager that I thought it the best album that could ever be. That lasted for some years but was not to last forever. It always reminds me of a younger time though.

What was the album, long ago, you could not have lived without?

Good thread!

Since you said THE album, I'll spare you a list. It's a tie for first place:

Metallica: Master of Puppets
U2: War

Anthrax - Among The Living/Spreading The Disease
Misfits - Collection 1/Legacy Of Brutality/Walk Among Us
Guns N Roses - Appetite For Destruction
Dokken - Under Lock And Key/Back For The Attack
WASP - WASP/Last Command

Back in the day? I went through so many different phases it's not even funny.

For a while I couldn't live without "The Chirkenduce" and "Let's Play House" :D

Then, for a long, long time, I couldn't live without Styx - Paradise Theater

Eventually, I couldn't live without Dark Side of the Moon.

Then, one day, I heard Metal. And suddenly, there was very little I could live without. I think, though, the tape I nearly played to death was Holy Diver, with Diary of a Madman coming in a close second.

That disc is hard to beat... but Everything that NOFX has done since then has been greatness as well, to me. That one hooked me in big time, though. I probably feel more nostalgic about that CD than any other one in my collection when I hear it.

Narrowing it down to one, hmm... even though Metallica became my favorite band in high school, it was Motley Crue's "Dr. Feelgood" that changed my life in 8th grade. I ditched Run-DMC's "Tougher Than Leather" and saw the light. :D

Okay I forgot two:

Primus Frizzle Fry
Primus Sailing the Seas. . .

No matter what car we all piled into in high school, those tapes had to follow.

I was always more drawn to "Ribbed". Every song on that disc is a punk rock "hit".

DAMN! I wish I was older to be able to answer this, not enough history with CD's yet that have strongly impacted me.
