That brings a tear to my eye, in my delivery cars (Geo Metro's) it was on empty and I filled it up with under less than $14.... so amazing.

EDIT: Oops, that was at the Northgate Arco... but ya know... same thing.

I noticed a couple weeks ago that the indian casino/liquor store/gas station in Deming on the Mt Baker highway was selling for $1.98/gallon and its a Chevron.

Don't count on this lasting folks. The Baltic dry index is dropping like a rock. Thats the cost/profit index for all goods shipped by freighter across the oceans. When that profit index drops below the cost of shipping, shipping ends. If theres no profit in it, people wont do it. That ends up raising the prices of everything just so the shipping companies can make money. Those heavy container ships use a LOT of oil. OPEC countries need the price of crude to be above $35-$40 to make their industry profitable. If there is no profit, there is no industry. This drop in gasoline prices is NOT a good sign. It's just a hiccup.

Sorry. I just dont want to see people start thinking this is a trend and go back to what they were thinking when crude oil was $18 a barrell (1998).

One of the more amusing aspects of this downturn in fuel prices is the sales jump in luxury SUVs. Chrysler, GMC, Mercedes, Lexus, and Ford are all showing increased sales in their biggest luxury cars over the last few weeks.

On credit of course.

The people that locked in their heating oil prices on contract did so when the prices were around $4 a gallon. Those people are NOT happy right now that heating oil is hovering around $2.60 a gallon.

Albert Einstein once said: "There are only two things that are infinite. The Universe, and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the Universe."

He also said that "compound interest is the most powerful force in the universe."

Dump your oil furnaces. Dump your big SUVs and gas pig hotrods. Start saving every penny you can.

Tellin ya folks.

It's been dropping steadily here as well. Yesterday it was $1.99/gal for reg unleaded. Today I saw it for $1.94 at a couple of places. Certainly I'm glad to see it down but I must admit that it makes me uneasy. Thankfully, I drive a Saturn and only have a 10 mile commute to work.

We do have oil heat and should probably get while the gettin's good. We won't even need to fill our tank all the way. We're only going to be here through Feb/Mar and our place stays pretty warm due to the fact that we're in an upper duplex and we benefit from the heat from the lower unit. However, there are no plans to purchase an SUV anytime soon though. But it would be nice if prices stayed down long enough to get us through our cross country move next year.
