I packed up the wife & kids (& dog) and headed over the mountains Tuesday morning to spend Christmas with my side of the family. They live 45 miles south of Spokane, and the snow was fucking RIDICULOUS! I ran into some people from Michigan at a grocery store in Spokane, and they said it was crazy... even by "upper-midwest" standards.
The roads drifted shut behind us on our way to my parent's house, and we passed a WSDOT Sanding truck tipped on it's side in the ditch.
After listening to the weather reports during the week, we decided to make the trip back home on Friday... which we did. And I'm glad we did, because a WICKED storm rolled into the Spokane area and closed all the roads again.
Say what you want about my carbon footprint. I'm convinced that my huge, urban assault vehicle saved our asses this week.

Let's see here,
Yukon with pretty bling bling 22's and low-profile tires, well that adds up to sideways in the driveway a few feet away from going down a good 10" revine. Finaly had a bud come down from Stanwood to come straighten it out.
Next,
Commcast, you can kiss my ass! Can't keep a god damn connection for shit! (See Blake's sig)
And finaly,
Christmas dinner. I got all you fuckers beat!
Chef Boyargee + Coleman stove + Darkness= Most metal holiday dinner one could ask for! Jesus is spinning on his cross!

Just got back from going to my grandparents place. Snowed like a motherfucker on I-90 Xmas eve when I went over. Summit was totally whited out. Could barely see 5 feet in front of the car and the windshield wipers kept freezing making shit harder to see out of the windshield. Snowed every day at my grandparents place. Roads weren't bad on the way back, though.

Spokane's STILL getting pounded!
Sounds like they're getting ready to send in the Army Corps of Engineers to figure out what to do with all that fuckin' snow.

Just so it's known, you guys have exactly 2 months to get rid of all that vile snow! I expect to see nothing but green trees and gray skies when I move back (gray skies are not mandatory). The only snow that should be visible is that which rests upon Mt. Ranier. Of course, I won't even be able to see that because of the cloud cover.
You think I'm kidding, don't you?!

Damn, if I had a few more days, that would have been AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, we took I-25 north to I-90 all the way back. We were going to try to make it to Bozeman, MT the first day, but got stuck in Livingston at dusk with black ice, blowing snow and 70 mph winds.soundguy wrote:Having spent WAAAY too many fucked up winters in tour busses & trucks, I would have to say that you do NOT want to be driving around in Montana in any of the winter months. I recommend 25 South to El Paso, TX and then 10 down to San Antonio, where it's currently 78 degrees.
Took almost 3 days to drive 1,250 miles back here. Ugh. In the summer, we can do it one way in 18 hours!!! Will NEVER make that trip in the winter EVER AGAIN!!!

You're not kidding!!! We pulled into Spokane for gas on our way back and had a hard time finding an opening in the piled up snow to drive into the gas station!
We got home to find a huge pile of snow about five foot high plowed in front of our house on our cul de sac. Damn!
