And by the way, Vulgarizer is already on there. They obviously saw you coming.

Well NWR does have keyboards. . .and from the memo I received about three years ago you can't have keyboards and be metal. . . .
sorry Blake, maybe you guys could be a back up band for Britney or John Mayer or something!
vv I believe my sig still says it all vv

Lee, I have an old Haruspex demo from the tape trading days. I used to sell it at our shows. Traded demos!!Six6VI wrote:I'm on that Metallum site from my last band, Haruspex. I don't know who originally submitted our info but when I came across it was grossly outdated due to the fact that the band had been broke up for 12 years. All I did was ask them to correct it with the updated info and they did without question. I just now checked the band's profile and was quite surprised to see that they actually have it updated with the new members (though the picture is still from when I was with them).
I really don't see where they get off saying NWR isn't "metal enough"!??? Sure, they'll turn them away yet they bring on any backwater death/grind band who just so happened to have a member with advanced enough motor-skills to operate a computer. And you know that 90% of the bands on that site are either disbanded or will most likely break up within a year of their formation. What their response should have been was "you don't fit into this narrow-minded, shallow box of what we consider to be metal".
Of course, it's their site and they're free to do with it what they will but really, who needs them anyway? I assure you, being part of their database did absolutely nothing to further our popularity or recognition.
So that's why I don't go into the pit anymore. I thought it was just because I'm old and I actually want to see the bands I pay money to see.

I have no idea how The Braindead ended up on that site. LOL
I love to have my metal injected into my hardcore but we are anything but metal. LOL

and what, (c)Rap isn't sexist? gee, that one flew right over my head!Sister Khaos wrote:And that is just the beginning. You can either become a bull dyke and act like a guy or be a female and get rated on how fuckable you are. I guess it just goes with the metal genre. Guys maybe need to keep the illusion that metal is a boy thing... god forbid a chick could pull off a metal riff better than them!
come on, if you want to be stereotypical, I can go to that level: look at what kind of guys are playing "metal"....do you honestly think they give a fuck? There's no reason to believe they would, look at Jody!
And I haven't met much guys who say shit like "Metal should be all Men!" or "that fucking bitch pulled off a better riff than me that fucking twat!"
I like female musicians in metal, "fuckable" or not, it's all about the music for me. I don't think it should bother you if people saying shit like you said above, fuck 'em, OR, pull off a better riff than them, because if that truly pisses certain idiots off, more power to ya!

i don't know why you would even want to be on that site. I've never bothered or have been interested to listen to your band - and i'm sure the feeling is mutual, which is totally cool-, but if you have any dignity, just harass the morons on the forum all day for fun. I don't even want my band's page to be on there anymore, they are fucking idiots, they make mistakes and don't change them, and they added false information to my page under the releases, (the IV tape, which was NEVER released or mastered or distributed...the little kids just wanted to add shit for whore points)Blake NWR wrote:So, last night I tried submitting NWR to a site called metal-archives.com, otherwise known as "Encyclopaedia Metallum", thinking it would just be cool to have a listing. I included all required info (discography, logo, etc), but it came back as rejected due to "lack of information". I thought that was odd, so I posted on their message board. Two of the moderators came back with the following:
Kinda funny since none of us listen to Hatebreed, and they likely just listened to the first song on our page and assumed from there. But yeah... it was mildly amusing. As much as I love metal, sometimes it can be the most close-minded genre ever. This whole "this isn't metal" or "this is TR00 metal" bullshit doesn't help anyone, and to me is a huge mark of immaturity.
We'll keep doing what we're doing, pigeonholes and stereotypes and close-mindedness be damned. My sig says it best.
But to anyone who may have felt misled by us and thought we were metal all this time, I do apologize; we didn't get that memo either.

The only "investment" with a guaranteed high rate of return is EDUCATION. Go rent a cheap shack and get your asses back to college or trade school. Don't come out until you're not stupid anymore~ Pat the Wise!

Small world! I'm sure Lee Halvorson (Haruspex vocalist) has probably sold/traded a few of yours over the years too. When we played our "come back" show this past Summer we didn't have any of our own merch so Lee brought out this huge box of other band's merch, etc. that he had traded for over the years and set up his own underground metal garage sale. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if there was something from The Braindead in the lot.
I used to have all of the old Haruspex demos but I think most of them have been stolen over the years (I went through a bad streak of people breaking into my car in the early 90s). I can't even find any of my old shirts either. It was our intention to bring back some of the old designs in limited runs. I'm still going to bug them about doing that. I miss my "Please Recycle, Eat The Dead" shirt.

imperator_Drakul - it is normally the road I tend to take. Fuck them all and who cares! But once in a while I get sentimental about it, especially when i get passed over due to my "womanhood" and a less skilled person gets chosen for a music job over me.

Well like I said, it just looked like some random cool place to add my band. I'm not pissed that we're not included, it's more the mentality behind what they think is "metal" or not. As if they're some inner circle that hands standards out. One person's brutal shit is someone else's overblown cheese.imperator_Drakul wrote:i don't know why you would even want to be on that site. ah okay i understand that, that indeed isnt fair, but maybe they really didnt want you in the band because it'd be distracting? heh, that happens.Sister Khaos wrote:imperator_Drakul - it is normally the road I tend to take. And I bet it makes you sad to see someone like Gizmo (windy) go through the same stuff while she is starting out trying to do something with music. Like the cycle just keeps going and going and going. But your amazing! Mr. Burns - Windy rocks! I always try and stay as supportive as I can with women in music because I know first hand how cunty women get when they are jealous or feel bad about themselves to the point where they try and harm you and fuck up your opportunities. So I try and be that one chick that is not going to rip you to shreds behind your back. To be a woman in music you not only have to overcome the gender issue with guys but you are in a constant psychological war with other women. It is complete fucking bullshit!
But, I have learned a lot of things from some amazing women in music. I mean shit, I was locked up in a tiny studio all damn day with the boys of KMFDM and Lucia, Saschas chick, was pretty god damned awesome and inspiring. She showed me a whole new side to how great and helpful a female friend in music can be. I treasure some of the things we spoke of.
imperator_Drakul - It was a production job I was going to be doing with a band and they loved my work, but when the label found out "charlie" was not a boy... well, they decided to look for someone else. But, that aside, there are lots of boys in this music genre that have always supported me and hold me pretty high in their books. So, you can not win them all. The guys I do end up doing production with are more than happy and really enjoyed that I not only have the edge any guy would in a studio but I also have that soft side where I am not afraid to help them let their hair down.
So fuck them all anyway. It just sucks and makes me wish on more than one occasion that I had a more androgynous look so that I could enter a situation as a "Pat", if you must, and just get to work and get the fucking job done.
Oh and I wanted to add, my own Lizzy, bass player extraordinaire, well her attitude and professionalism is quite something. We treat each other with so much respect and I have known her for so long, we have very little, if ever, female weirdness between us. She just rocks! She is one girl who has surpassed the gender issue in music quite nicely.

Attitude an professionalism?? How about her flat out ability to bring the thunder?! She's among a select few bassists in the scene that make me want to give up and take up the kazoo or something of the sort because she's just that good...

Hey, I would like to comment on the whole women in metal thing. When I see a female in metal, in my opinion, I couldn't be happier, ya I get horned up sometimes, but I like the females, so sue me. But the fact that that want to "play with us" in our little "boys club" is awesome. Like seeing a chick drink beer and watch porn and then get tickets to a football game. But what saddens me is that no female will ever become famous if they have talent. Apperently thats against the law or something, I remember a band called "End Theory" I think thats the name, and the little mexican chick singing, hands down, best metal singer[who actually sang] around. Sorry to anyone else, but as small as she was, she could belt out the perfect note, and yet she played small venues, while that pile of shit chick from Arch Enemy is selling out crowds, with her raspy voice, ugly face, and horrible vocal range. She should be ashamed damnit! All of them should be. Take the chick from In This Moment. She is to women, what George Bush is to men. I couldn't believe she sold out so hard [keep in mind, that band was signed, SOULY ON HOW MANY MYSPACE HITS THEY HAD], she wore a "wedding dress" was a flat toned singer, try to sound like a bird dying and further made it harder for a female, who wants to be taken seriously and has a great range, and doesn't want to bassically sound like a man. I've been wanting to get all that off my chest for awhile. Although, I am just an outsider these days to metal, I resorted back to classic rock [thank you billy thorpe] and old school rap

I do not have the patience to read through everyone’s essay, I will just say this; Woman in metal, or men in metal, it doesn’t matter. Compared to me, everyone looks like a woman in metal. I don’t just live metal, I AM metal.
Every thing I do is extreme brutal metal. I can wear a tutu hiked up with a dildo up my ass while watching Opera and I am still more metal than you. I by myself could play a solo trombone and make it more brutal and metal than any of you or your bands. If you could harness and somehow combine the deathyness and brutalness of all of everyone’s bands put together, it STILL would not equal the amount of METAL I piss out on a daily basis.
Let’s all just get that straight right now.
