Help!!!!!!! Read on.....

Post by Prog7guitar »

MASON COUNTY, Wash. -- A local woman and her 43 cats are about to get thrown out of their home.

Linda Martin lives in a house near Shelton with her son and 43 of her closest friends.

"Each one's got a different personality," she said.

And each one, Martin said, has a different story.

"People just moved. They'd leave four or five cats behind," she said.

Because Mason County's animal control policy doesn't cover cats, Martin took in dozens of strays over the years. She's cared for the animals and even given a name to each one.

"Apps, Bear, Benjamin, Blacktow, Blaze," she said. "Sage, Sally, Sky, Smokey."

Martin said she has always tried to find a home for the cats, and never thought she'd end up with 43.

"It was to the point where we were basically stuck with them," she said.

And now Martin is in a bind. The neighborhood association has a limit on the number of pets one family can have, so her landlord says Martin and her cats have to go by the end of the month. Martin doesn't know where she'll end up.

"We've been looking," she said. "We've looked in the papers. I put an ad out for three weeks, didn't get a response."

Martin and her son are in a race against time to find homes for the cats, while also looking for a home for themselves and the cats with special needs they'll take with them.

Martin's son, Forrest Martin, hopes the cats will be able to have some room to roam free.

"Acre or two would be nice, so they can have room to be out in the yard without being in anybody else's yard," he said.

Linda Martin says she is ready to say goodbye to most of her feline family.

"They deserve silken pillows and canned food, and people who really love them just as much as we do. They deserve that, and that's what I would like to see for them," she said.

If you'd like to adopt any of the cats or have space to take them in, contact KOMO News.

Not to be a dick or anything, but I'll bet her place smells LOVELY!!!

I would hate to be her landlord... or her neighbor, for that matter.

Thanks for posting that, Tim. I actually know a couple people who have a great home for a cat or two and probably wouldn't mind the drive if it meant a rescue would ensue. Rad, indeed.
