Northwest Royale Bids Farewell in 2010
Next month will be 10 years of the best times we've ever had. As many of you in bands know, there's nothing like the feeling of rocking a crowd with some of your best friends onstage with you. And we've been fortunate to rock a lot of crowds, and even more fortunate to call Seattle our second home. From when we started playing Jimmy'Z in Everett, to our first shows at Doc Maynard's in 2003, 'til the S2C farewell gig at El Corazon last September, no other city has treated us as one of their own as much as you guys/gals have, and we're beyond grateful to all of you.
With that said, we feel next year will be a good time to put NWR to rest. There's no drama, no bad blood --- we just feel it's time. We've had a fantastic run, done a lot of things other bands from our area never got to, and put out 4 CDs we're very proud of.
We've booked a farewell show in Eugene on Saturday Jan. 23, and we're beyond honored to have Enkrya come down to play it with us, along with Domeshots --- playing their first Northwest show in over two years. To make things even more special, we've reunited with our original singer Colton Williams and we'll be playing lots of older songs we haven't touched since he left the band in Sept. '06. He'll also be playing with us on our newer material, as well. I've posted the flier below for anyone up north who may be interested in making the trek down.
To say we've had fun is the understatement of the decade, so we're just gonna throw down one last time and go out with a bang. We promise we'll give Enkrya back to you guys in at least as many pieces as they arrived in.
'Til next time...

Damn, it seems a lot of bands from this area are just disappearing or breaking up now a days, kind of a bummer. Good luck on all of your future pursuits.

As for what our future plans are, I plan to put my drum kit back together and play out now and then, see what tickles my fancy. I also have a home studio and I've been recording my own stuff. Probably help local bands around here, too. Plus, my girlfriend and I have been writing classical-influenced songs.
Travis and Kenny are likely still gonna write and jam together, not sure in what capacity though.
Beef has an idea for a donut shop he's currently getting investors for.
Colt has another band called There Will Be Robots. Haven't seen 'em yet, but I hear they incorporate a lot of visual elements into their show.

Sharing the stage with you guys over the years has been the greatest honor. Talented guys and great friends. You will be missed beyond belief. The NW is losing one of the best bands it's ever known. I WILL be down there for your final show bros. (Maybe a rousing rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody and Brown eyed Girl over some brews?) LOL!
I say we take off and Nuke them from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. -Ripley
