Well... I begrudgingly finished The Simpsons book.
Do not read it. It's nothing but 20 years worth of writers all bitching about each other. Almost non-stop. Ugh! As a Simpsons fan, it just offended me.
So, after finally getting past that and not having another that I was excited to crack, I decided to read the 136 year old Wuthering Heights.
But.... after the pain of the last book, I decided I'm not yet in the mood to deal with the old-school language of this one just yet, so instead, I picked this up today (finally) and seem to already be hooked.

I have thought about picking this one up again multiple times. It's an easy top 5 all time favorite book for me. Haven't read it in 10 years.Evil Red wrote:I decided to read the 136 year old Wuthering Heights.

I'm only around 50 pages into it so far, but yeah, it's really good. Reads like fiction. They made a pretty famous movie about it in the 70's w/ Sally Fields.mickey brown-eye wrote:16 personalities!? Wow. Let me know if it is a good read. Sounds interesting
The author is dead? Damn, it seems like there's a new book every week! I was actually wondering about those. Are they a series or just one shots?PnDsCm wrote:Anyone read this? Great book, too bad dude died before they were all published!

I just realized I missed the last few posts for some reason, but this surprises me, especially coming from you. Good to know! I'll re-start it soon, I'm sure.Project Undead Vish wrote:I have thought about picking this one up again multiple times. It's an easy top 5 all time favorite book for me. Haven't read it in 10 years.
I'll probally have to look into those Stieg Larrson books now too. Thanks!
Hey Bleez~ how's that Millar book coming along? I found a copy for a buck that I'll probally order if it's as good as your first description.

Agreed. I'm surprised you skipped my post as well. Skipping my posts is like Paris Hilton forgetting to take her Valtrex... nothing good can happen from that.Evil Red wrote:I just realized I missed the last few posts for some reason, but this surprises me, especially coming from you.

I've been trying for weeks to get past page 50 of Chuck Palahniuk's Pygmy to no avail...the premise sounded interesting enough, but the writing style just makes my eyes/brain hurt. I usually really enjoy everything that Palahniuk does, but I just don't have the patience for this one. I did however just start my first Richard Matheson book, Hunted Past Reason, and am liking it so far....

I thought the first half of the book was funny, the style, but yeah... it does gets old. It made me wonder if he wrote it normally and then just went back and picked all the adjectives and scrambled the sentences or... if that shit just came strait out of him. Oi vey!

I just finished Sybil tonight and whoa! That was a good read! Horrible and facinating. Parts of it were so brutal that it literally upset my stomach to read and you all know how much I like myself some fucked up shit, if that tells you anything. The abuse she went through as a kid is the very definition of a living hell.
I enjoyed it not only just as a good read, but found it insightful towards some of my own family history and my line of work.
Now, for something a smidge lighter:

When the mob ran Vegas
When the mob ran Vegas. Dude's not a writer - just a memorabilia dealer, but the stories are pretty interesting.

Chuck is such a wingnut! I love this guy! I was delighted to see that the book starts on page 289, at chapter 47 and works backwards...
(Thanks for the book, Hodgy! And for Frank the Flamingo...)
