Ginger Snaps

Post by Doc Benway »

So, whats the word on this sucker eh?
Should I lay down $3.50 at Ballbusters and see it, or is it suckfest 2000?
Just rented Bruiser, hope it doesn't suck as well (comeon George, don't let me down).
I'd lay it on thick and creamy to those two chicks on the Ginger Snaps cover though (even though they look about twelve). I can't imagine a direct to video werewolf flick being any good but theres that granual of hope or I wouldn't be writing this...

woops!!

Hehe, it wasn't recognising my user name and then all of a sudden, it apparently did.

I think I'll just take this opportunity to sing a little song...

Chop chop chop, chop up your mother
chop chop, chop up your mother

Thanks, I just rented Alone in the Dark and it had the Sick Fuks playing this song on stage. The rest of the movie kinda sucked though, considering the talent involved.

I don't really remember that scene, but for awhile my answering machine was Martin Landau saying:

"Vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord....Hahahahahahahahahaah!!!"

I actually sort of liked Alone in the Dark. Don't know jack about Ginger Snaps though.

The American DVD has almost no extras.(one trailer) The Canadian DVD has a shit load of extras. Two commentaries(Director,Writer),a making of featurette, werewolf effects short.

Bios on Stars,Director, writer,DP,various Interviews,Behind the scenes footage,Deleted scenes etc,ad nauseum. If you like the movie, the later is well worth getting. It had a theatrical release in Canada, and the UK. But was dropped from U.S theatrical release by 20th century Fox about the same time as House of A 1000 Corpses was. It may have been due to some concern about youth violence, by the Studios.

I'm watchin' Bruiser w/ commentary now. I didn't realize it had been released. It's an interesting movie, but not up to Martin or NOTLD. Better than The Dark Half, though. Plus it has the Misfits.

I was thoroughly impressed with GINGER SNAPS,and it was a great rental for Halloween.

I'm not the biggest fan of modern teen horror films, but this one is highly enjoyable.

Well, this is going to sound like I have nothing better to do than to sit around and read up on lycanthropy, but I did notice one scene that could be an inside joke for some people inclucing myself. In the scene where Ginger is bitten, did anyone notice where she was bitten?? If you guessed the torso, you're not wrong. What's this got to do with anything?? Well, there's a portrait somewhere that portrays a young woman in the jaws of a rather large lycanthrop and oddly enough, the creature looks similar to the one in the movie. Do you think the directer was trying to slip that one by the viewing public?? It's a mystery....

Well, I've taken up too much room and this is probably going to be deleted or something so I'm off. Oh yeah, here's another one for Griff Image Email me bud. Tell me what you think mate

I'll just add my voice to the 'see it' side.

I caught Ginger Snaps a few months back and was pleasantly surprised by it. I went in expecting the worst (I'd got all hyped up for The Convent, and didn't think it was nearly as good as everyone had made it out to be) and got a solid teen werewolf flick.

It's no American Werewolf in London, but it ain't bad, either.

Oh yeah--nice to see a flick with no friggin' CGI, too.

Speaking of lycanthropy, I read a long time ago (so I may not remember the details just right) in a book about superstitions that the real way to cure a werewolf, or to drive him off or some such thing, was to hit it with an article of your clothing. Has anybody else ever heard that? I've certainly never seen such a tactic used in a movie, but that may be because it's just not, well, movie material, y'know?

I caught this one over the weekend and loved it! I didn't really know what to expect, I'd read mad reviews of it since it first hit the film fest circuit and there was a lot of hype behind it. I can't say it let me down in any way.

I wasn't expecting the level of gore presented in it, that was a bonus. For a movie I rented at Lackluster Video, I was surprised at just how explicit it actually was.
