Recent Romero Realvideo Interview

One point of concern for living dead heads is something that he touches on ever so slightly: In the wake of Sep 11, his script for DEAD 4 no longer has the relevance it did prior and is perhaps no longer viable.

Golly.

poor George... seems like he's always getting the shaft. Too bad about his Living Dead 4 script, from the sounds of things it's current state doesn't sound like it has a future. But George is a genius, I guarantee he'll change it to make it more relevant to our times.

One project after another just implodes on this guy. At least he got paid for the Newline project. Obviously Resident Evil.

This guy can't catch a break.

First he can't even get a film a theatrical release now his Dead 4 script is in trouble because of what happened Sept. 11? Now I really want to see Osama's head on a silver platter.

It just pisses me off that some asshole studio exec will fork over a shitload of greenbacks for a teen flick, and George can't even get funding for his projects.

you know? honestly. The fact that George's projects crumble quickly make me respect him a lot more. Not because he can't seem to get a film made, but because no matter how many times a project collapses he sticks to his guns and stays indie.

George could throw up his hands at any time and say fuck it. He could fall into the studio system, tired of running himself ragged for scripts, funding, whatever and just let the studio wave carry him while he directs something tepid like Freddy v. Jason or the next stalk and slash fiasco. But he doesn't.

I suppose that's what make his movies so good. They're few and far between, but when he does release a picture, it's been a long time coming, fermenting, and it's that much better. (though he does have his share of disasters).
