Sweet.I just picked up the new subtitled Godzilla film,on VCD. ($8.00US)From a chinatown store. The plot goes something like this: G-war headquarters is set up by the Japanese, to construct a blackhole bomb to drop on zilla. However they encounter a few side effects in the experiment. It resurrects a giant space bug that feeds off of energy, namely Godzillas.

I picked up a subtitled bootleg,at a convention last month. I swear my copy was taped from the theater screen. This is a very good big-G flick with a highly unusual concept....can Godzilla survive a woman's scorn?
I'm not kidding.

You're right it was a slightly unconventional Godzilla flick. The woman's revenge sublot was marginally interesting. But wasn't a similar subplot used in Gammera 3? The film has a significant plothole, though. The first effects(and how they're dealt with) of the aforementioned Space/Time displacement weapon are never explained.(It causes a time distortion)
Some good effects in this zilla movie. The weapons effect is well depicted. So is a swarm of Megalum, that attack Godzilla and drain his power. The final fight between G and Megaguirus is pretty silly, with too much slow motion. But how Megaguirus attacks him, swooping in and out like a humming bird is pretty cool. An entertaining film, but could've used one more Godzilla/Monster encounter.

I haven't had a chance to see this one yet. I hear either this one or the next has yet another "new look" Godzilla, though. I had thought the whole reason behind Godzilla 2000 was to show that the good old fashion Godzilla was the way to go. I hope they don't screw him up too much.

didn't know this one was out yet. I really liked G2000 (the closeups of G's face during the final encounter were great, as if to say "get some"). I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

There are more monster facial asides in this film. One is a pretty funny sneer by Megaguirus as he collapses part of a building on Godzilla. Godzilla looks the same as in G2000.

Here I go dragging up old posts again
I got the Region 3 DVD today and I have to say that although it could have used a lot more monster brawling this was a very enjoyable G-flick. In my opinion it was better that 2000 simply because I liked the characters better.
If anyone's interested this can be had for $12.99 from http://www.yesasia.com/ They also have the region 3 HK DVD of G2000 for $8.99 which I am hoping will be somewhat different than the US version. If not it's another Godzilla disk for the collection
The quality on the DVD is pretty good and it has English subtitles that are completely below the picture which is nice for an HK DVD. It features Dolby Digital/5.1 surround and the only extra is a trailer. I noticed some artifacting in dark spots at times but who knows, that could be the old Apex 600A causing that.

I watched this one too awhile back after this thread and really liked it myself, although I thought the ending was a bit weak. However, I really liked the scenes in the ocean when the woman was standing on his back. It really makes Godzilla seem even more enormous than in past movies and was a great touch. I really should get some Godzilla dvds some day. I only have the Destroy All Monsters disc.

I thought the monster in Godzilla 2000 was actually Godzilla's offspring, thus slightly leaner? I saw 2000 in the theatre, so don't clearly recall that detail. I thought Godzilla had a son and when Godzilla melted, somehow the son got big and strong or something at the end of vs. Destroyer. I've had so many problems with the new Godzilla movie's plots...I wonder if it's just translations, though. The worst was the new Ghidorah one...but I shan't even start with my plot issues with that flick.
