Rest assured Blacking that any slump in activity around here is always followed by a period of prosperity. It occurs in cycles.

So stick around Zombie or you'll miss out on all the fun.

Griff's on the money. I've always said one of the things I love about this site is that it's not filled with people who post useless crap just to hear themselves talk (or see themselves type, I suppose I should say).

As for me, of course I love horror, but my quest for toys has completely depleted my finances so I haven't been as diligent in watching movies lately as I once was. Mostly been rewatching stuff we've all seen before so no need to post about that (although how on earth did I never notice Johnny Legend in Bride of Reanimator till yesterday?!).

Musically, it's been all Cocksparrer, Mr. Bungle, MC Hawking, Belmont Playboys, Nick Cave, Ghoultown, etc for me. I did download some Burzum stuff on recommendations from previous threads, but I thought it was terrible.

Blacking Factory, I was a littel surprised to see Burnt Offerings in your favorite movie list! The hearse driver in that scared the fuck out of me when I was little. Pretty cool movie though despite Oliver Reed.

Cheerz for replying!!

I'm into the usual stuff; Romero, Fulci, Argento etc...

I'm also into the Jap horror scene too. I got into it through the Manga/Anime thing, which in turn, got me into films like the Tetsuo saga. From then, I got into films like Ring, Audition and Evil Dead Trap, through my fiancee, (did I tell yoou she's amazingly beautiful by the way?).

I'm not too clued up on this scene though. Could any of you point me in the direction of any more "must see" Jap horror?

As for other stuff... I'm a complete Metal head. Mainly Deff Metal, and the like... I used to play for a band called Failed Humanity, who are signed to Candlelight Records. Heard of 'em? Course you ain't Heheh!

Welll, I hope to be talking/typing to you all soon!

Oh, by the way, if you lot are hankering for a decent shocker of a film; watch Funny Games, an Austrian flick. good stuff!

Well, like I said, I haven't been too up to date lately, but hell, the classics never die. Uzumaki, Wild Zero, Junk, Cure, Guts of a Virgin, Organ, Rubber's Lover, Pinocchio 964, Shikoku, EDT 2 and 3, Rapeman, Kekko Kamen, Beautiful Girl Hunter, etc.. All some of my favorites.

Funny games had a fairly sizable thread devoted to it awhile back. http://www.shadows.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000697.html

Oh, and one more mention of your fiancee w/o posting nekkid pitchers, that's a paddling.

Staring at my shoes, that's a paddling.

Paddling the school canoe? Oh you better believe that's a paddling!

Dylan - you're a Patton fan? Image

Failed Zombie, I highly recommend Takeshi Miike - particularly Visitor Q. It's some great stuff. There was actually somewhat of a largish argument over Funny Games last year - but it's a good film, if not a little over dramatic.

Sure, imo, California is one the greatest cds I've ever heard, and so is Fantomas' The Director's Cut. Both albums are the work of a sick and brilliant mind. And I love that they are not the sort of albums that I find myself overplaying.

However, right now with the release of the new Star Wars movie just around the corner, I find myself listening to Grand Moff Tarkin and praying they do another show at some point. I need to find a copy of the cd somewhere.

Dylan, you're gonna have to stop collecting those dolls, man. I know other people who've done it, like Star Wars figures for instance, and it can become an inexhaustible obsession. You've gotta ask yourself if there's a definable point of contentment in your hobby that you could realistically reach. Otherwise, you'll always be looking to the next conquest that, like the others, will only bring an expensive, fleeting sense of satisfaction before the hunger pangs kick in again. Its like hunting humans for sport - challenging and fun, perhaps, thrilling even but ultimately there's a large degree of wasteage to contend with.

If you need to talk to anybody, I could probably suss out a few numbers for support groups and the like.

Good luck, God bless.

Griff (who eventually learnt to think twice before buying yet another DVD, gave all his childhood Star Wars shit to his older brother to dust and stopped buying 4 copies of the same album just because they were printed on different coloured vinyl).

Well, now that I have enough Jumbos to fill my shelves (roughly 30, as seen here http://home.mindspring.com/~ka6zud/a.html ) and don't have those horrible empty spaces mocking me, I've been able to hold off for the last two months and fight the urge. However, there will likely NEVER come a day when the collecting is over. Part of the mystique of these toys is the rarity and mystery of them. Some are almost impossible to find. Others have only been seen in pictures. Some currently exist only in rumours, but may be out there. There are undiscovered jumbos that surface from time to time. There are bootleg jumbos that feature parts from legit jumbos that "supposedly" were never made, leading one to believe they may have been made, but not found yet. There are ultra rare store displays, dealers samples and prototypes. There are rare jumbos sold only in subway kiosks or given away as carnival prizes. So in this particular field of collecting, it's almost like archaeology or hunting for bigfoot. You never know what you'll find and some pieces seem to exist only in legend! Long story short, it's too much fun to stop! Image

I'd also add Versus to the list, and if you're feeling adventurous, there was a bizarro flick called Angeldust that's not as outre in visceral horror, but very understated.

There's obviously also the Guinea Pig series, but most of that is crap.

And stay the hell away from the Guts series!!! They're atrocious.

Failed Zombie......
THE SOUND OF RAZORS THROUGH FLESH!!!!!!!!
Failed Humanity is crushing.

Dude, I was the bass player in an old school thash band from the bay area called Sacrilege BC. We came over there a couple of times. I remember playing one place called PLANET X....
Then I had a band called Grinch (me;guitar and vocals) with Kontos from Machine Head (its what got him in MH pretty much, and we were no small influence on them PRE RAP era...ugh.)
Then I played with Tom Hunting and Gary Holt from Exodus singing in a project called Wardance. A dream come true that turned out to be a nightmare.

Get ahold of me, maybe we can turn each other onto stuff...wanna take my horror interview? Ive already done Joe from Circle of Dead Children and Dan from Commit Suicide. Put yer e-mail up and Ill send it to you...

And how's that little lady doing? You know none of us will believe it until you post a picture!!!!!!!!

Whaddayamean!? Guts of a Beauty was sort of lame but the other two are great! FAR better than Versus, at the very least. Versus was probably the biggest turd I watched all last year. Talk about a snooze-fest. I'll never understand why that's movie has gotten a good reputation.

Angel Dust was pretty good, but if understated weirdness is what you want, try Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Charisma. It's about this tree, and ah...well, you see what happens is...hmmm, well, I'm not really sure, but the movie ain't normal.

Other decent Jap flicks to see include DOA 1&2 (is 3 out yet?), Ley Lines, Hypnosis, Tomie, Naked Blood, The Bedroom, that video game one that I can't remember the name of, more Tsukamoto like Bullet Ballet, Gemini, & Tokyo Fist....

Anyone gotten around to seeing Stacy yet, BTW?

Fuckin 'ell! you used to play with Kontos? He was ALWAYS the better drummer from MH who IMO have gone way downhill since he left... Burn My Eyes was amazing.

And you played with the guys from Exodus? Well that's just \m/METAL\m/!!

So you've heard of FH then? Gods. I never expected that! Cool! Those guys, and the guys from Extreme Noise Terror are my best mates. I used to play guitar for FH but we've all but split up now. [ Image]

As for a piccie of my girl, (she IS gorgeous I tells ya!!) Maybe I'll send ya a piccie on an email or something! I'll post my addy on a different thread so others can use it too.

I'd love to see those interviews aswell.

Both Guts of a Beauty and Entrails of a Virgin are heavily padded. They both focus more on twisted sex than horror. Entrails has crap FX. Guts has better FX, but virtually every FX had been seen in a different movie prior to that. If you like them, that's cool, but I thought they were utter garbage.

I don't have much access to Japanese stuff, so don't know about any of the others...Not a big fan of Japan's output at any rate. I like Versus, Godzilla, Gamera and some of the Beat Takeshi stuff. That is all.

Hell yeah, I'll let you preview a couple of the interviews. Its all I can do not to post them up now, but I'm stretching them out w/replies and stuff, they're getting loger and more interesting.

ANYBODY who wants to do one of these (I want musicians, fans who know their shit, label heads, ANYBODY!!!) can e-mail me at

Do you have any video?

Also, gimme some time and I'll get some ULTRA RARE stuff (mp3s) up inan internet locker somewhere for the metallers to enjoy!!! I' talking RARE...hehehehehehe.
