Broke down today, and bought myself a early bday present in the form of a hot rod red Mario Kart edition Nintendo DS.

Sweet, the DS is a hell of a handheld, better than the PSP in that the quantity of quality games seems to be increasing greatly. Ever since I got my DS and a few good games the PSP has been gathering a lot of dust :)

My DS owns my life right now. I have band practice tonight, but I would rather play Mario cart!

Well Mario Kart is very well done. It has tracks from all the previous MK games on it, and the graphics are on par with the N64 version, which is fine for a hand held. The PSP is way better, graphically, but with hand helds it is all about the fun factor, and the DS totally has that.

The Castlevania game owns me right now. It is just as good, if not better, than SotN, graphically at least. My roomie told me it is kinda short, but man oh man it is fun stuff.

My next purchase will be Elektroplankton, when it comes out next month. Kind of an interactive music program, not really a game.

Well worth the 149$ plus tax. With the games running 35 bucks a pop, I can see myself getting a lot out of this investment.

I was gonna get a PSP, but seeing as a bulk of their current library is remakes and ports, and there aren't any killer apps for it yet, I will take a pass. My roomie got one on launch day, so if I ever get a hankerin to play Wipeout or Lumines, I can. Too much money for a handheld, in my opinion.

I think Nintendo will always dominate the portable market. They have yet to face any real competition, and the first Gameboy came out, what, '89? They know exactly what they are doing.

I am so glad they kept the power slide feature from Double Dash. So much fun to drift around those long corners and then boost on the straighaway.
