The Uninvited

Nope, not the Ray Milland classic (though that's good too), I'm talking about a Korean ghost movie that came out a couple years back. And don't be scared off by the word ghost. Sadako is nowhere to be found in this one. Instead we've got a complex story of repressed memories, psychic abilities, failing marriages, infanticide, faith, narcolepsy and more brought together by the ghosts of two murdered children, whose role in the movie isn't exactly what you may think it is. Scares are limited and gore practically non-existent, but there are a few "shock" scenes involving children that aren't very pleasant. The characters are complex and interesting. The movie certainly takes it's time telling the story, but it is engrossing enough that the the 2 hour running time goes by quickly. Which is good because I think this is one of those movies that would be best appreciated and understood upon multiple viewings. I really dug this one and so far would probably give it the nod for best film I've seen so far this year. Check it out.
