Without having any coffee yet and one eye open, my first thought is aside the fact that the universe does NOT need another goddamn 'reality' show, why is it wrong? Those people will probally make a ton of money from it.

They always do.
I made the Devil do it.

*sigh* Yeah. It'll be a money maker. Hey, do you think the secret host will turn out to be Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho, porn star and five-time ultimate smackdown wrestling champion? Cuz that would totally kick ass!

Rehabilitation was, in my opinion, the one good thing they had in that version of the future. That really will kick ass!

Why is it wrong? I think there's something fundamentally wrong with the fact that we (American adults) have the overpowering need to watch "reality shows" where the result is other people having to suffer. Granted, the person who loses their job is probably going to make a bunch of money from being on the show, but, let's face it...THEY JUST LOST THEIR JOB!!! And, the main reason they lost their job is that they didn't stab everyone else, in the company, in the back as well as the people who got to keep their jobs. It's just wrong...wrong I say!! :hippie:

I've got a great idea...let's start a reality TV show, where we get 500 unemployed people together and find jobs for them. Not just any jobs, but jobs that will actually help them change their lives for the better. Each week, we go out and find jobs for 10 people and throughout the year, we do little updates on how WELL they are doing and how the show changed their lives for the better. Of course, with this one, no one would watch and no one would care...that's what's wrong! :swear:

I agree. I hate all these shows. They're fucking inescapeable, so here's a REAL idea to stimulate the economy; Hire those starving screen writers to create interesting TV and original films again. I know those people are lurking somewhere but since Hollywood seems to think that's oh-so blase'... we're stuck with that crap wether we watch it or not. There isn't any shortage of shallow to fill the hollow gaps these days.

Of course losing their jobs is shitty, again I'm not disputing that. What I do think besides the fact they are probally given a contractual option of 'being fired' to do the show because that does make for 'good' TV, at least those people are given the option of A) collecting a sub-standard sized unenjoyment check that they'll have scrimp by one to make ends meet or B) Fast, large amounts of cash and fame in realitively no time at all.

I'm in no way condoning 'reality' shows, but here's MY issue.

If they want to go on one, make a huge ass out of themselves for the entire public (and knowing FOX, it'll be especially brutal in the humiliation dept.) they can jolly well go fuck themselves and if they're lucky, take their happy ass to the bank with a big fat check. My level of compassion stops the moment a show comes into play. How's THAT for wrong?

Not that I watch, but a few of the shows at least have *some* merit to them like Extreme Makeover Home Edition, or whatever the fuck it's called for example. Why am I even debating this at all? I hate this topic.

Nuff said.

Well I hate to break it to ya, but that's how it works in the real world... reality show or not. Always look out for number 1.

OMG! I say something almost identical every time someone brings up Judge Judy. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why they have people on those shows. What kind of a moron volunteers for that?

OK -- new TV show! Fuck that -- all new Fox Pay TV Channel! Let's just call 'em as we see em: Tard TV. All Retards, all the time. Tards having sex, Tards picking their noses, Tards suing Tards, Tards can't jump -- bring on the Tards! Fuck yeah!

"Fox says the laid-off worker will get a small severance, but isn't saying whether the network or producers are paying the participants in anything beyond the chance for prime-time fame."

If I was asked to participate in this, I would have a long debate this could go one of two ways....

a:
You lose your job in front of millions of people and get are humiliated. No one hires you because they see why you lost your last job and are affraid of the same problems reoccuring.

b:
Someone watching may have sympathy on you and wish to employ you.

Either way, this is just plain f'd up. If you have recently lost your job and have to watch someone else lose theirs, you aren't going to think its entertaining.

Speaking as someone who's actually LIVING that "reality", I can honestly say that if you were to throw some asshole with a video camera into my life right now, I'd be sitting in prison for assault charges (at the VERY least!). Don't we see ENOUGH stories of misery on the evening news every night? Do we REALLY need a reality show exploiting this fucked up situation?

SIDE NOTE:

I was thinking about this the other day, and it just got my wheels turning. Isn't this "economic downturn" EXACTLY what the terrorists had in mind when they crashed planes into the towers? They wanted to attack our financial institututions, and in retrospect... it looks like they've succeeded in grand fashion.

Sorry - I've only been on these meds for about a week, and my body's not quite used to them yet.
