Just saw this on FB from Adawg, dint even know Geri was sick... very sad, she was a great lady!!

Adawg writes - "Rest in Peace Geri Nahrgang For those of you who knew her, Geri has lost her battle with breast cancer this morning. I've been told that there are no funeral services. For those of you who didn't know her, she was a founder of Seattle Metal Online, and was a staple in the Seattle Metal Community for a long time. She will be missed."

No one even told me she went into hospice care 5 days ago either.

Many drinks tonight in her honor.

This breaks me up.

She was always very warm and compassionate with me. Even when I was an ass. This is sad news. Her smile is unforgetable.

I TOTALLY remember the golden days of SMO. Geri and Lilly used to hang together (odd pair but both have great hearts) all the time. One time we played Seattle on a Friday and those two were there. The next morning we played an allages show at a Mt. Vernon Kart track. Since noone else had a show at 2 in the afternoon, they drove ALL THE WAY up there.

Big time supporter of our little scene.

Damn, Just found out 10 seconds ago. This is a GREAT loss! She was such a warm and caring friend and I will always remember the conversations I used to have with her at shows, parties, etc. She came to almost all TREMORCORDIS shows. She will DEFINITELY be missed. Very sad!!

Never met her, but I'm pretty sure NWR interacted with her at some level once. I've heard nothing but good things about her, and this is truly a shock. May she rest in peace... :(

I saw her at the Musician Awards show and she had told me she was doing Chemo. This is rough news. She was always so nice and sweet. She'll be deeply missed.:(

She was an extremely cool person who really went out of her way to be nice to me when I first met her. I had (and still have) a lot of respect for her. I had no idea she was sick until I read Evil Red's post on Facebook.

RIP Geri.

I was just wondering aloud, not 2 weeks ago what the hell she was up too and it sounds like it was just that... Hell.

Fuck. She was one of the first few chicks that welcomed me in to the family and always made a point of making sure I was alright. Jesus. She even offered to move me in, knowing how much I would rather be closer to everyone...

Goddamn it. I should have called her. :(

I'm very sorry to hear this. I only met Geri once when I first moved to the area back in 05 at a Braindead show at Studio 7. During the course of the evening we had a few brief conversations about music and the band scene around town, etc. She welcomed me to the fold with open arms and was beyond kind. Being as that was my first real night out at a local band show, I met quite a few people that night. Geri was definitely one who has always stuck out in my memory.

I hadn't made it publicly known here on the board but I recently lost my father to cancer as well. This news certainly strikes close to home and a little too soon. My thoughts go out to her family and friends. Seems she had quite a few of them. May she rest in peace.

i'm sitting @ providence hospital in portland right now with my father who has liver cancer that has progressed to his bile ducts and gall bladder. not lookin good for the tough ol bastard. this innerwub terminal they have here sucks but it's the only thing keepin me sane. that and a few oxycontins! i'm runnin on 3 hours of psuedo sleep on top of it and everything has that warm fuzzy glow right now.

geri and i ran in the same circles for a long time and never knew each other til SMO started. she and i used to have lengthy drunken discussions about the local scene. peace out girl, at least the pain has ended.
