George Romero and Fox part ways

Post by Scott » Sat Feb 15, 2003 5:57 pm

Looks like George Romero's attempt to get his fourth living dead film up have hit another snag. Fox studios and Romero have parted ways after disagreements apparently on issues like budget and creative differences.

Romero simply won't budge on final cut. He wants his movies done his way or the high way and that's always been the problem. It makes me wonder if this film will ever get done. I'm having my doubts.

I've always respected George for his unwillingness to compromise but I have to admit, in this day and age that sort of stubborn behavior doesn't do much to get his movies made. I really hope he gets a good backer behind this movie, sometime soon. No matter how low he projected the budget for that movie, the Dead Reckoning alone will just look shitty if he doesn't get the kind of funding he needs to make it look good.

I wouldn't be surprised if these compromises asked of George are actually appalling ideas on behalf of the suits that really do warrant a meeting walk-out or two.

Once again, foreign investment is probably his best bet. Too bad Argento ain't the big shot he was 25 years ago.

Although my faith in this movie is forever dwindling, I think I'll always have that little bit of hope. At any rate, there's always Romero's old school flicks to cherish.

Which reminds me: can't be much longer until THE CRAZIES hits DVD.

Holy shit! The old Lynn Lowry!
